We have to.

I wouldn't want any weak team to continue disgracing us at the World Cup. We need all our strong teams well presented. And that includes Nigeria.

Well said sir, It is not automatic as some folks glamour for. Once you declare to play for Nigeria, it is now left for the coach to decide if you fit in. After all most of them use Nigeria as second or third choice. If they were so good they will prefer to play for England

It is the NFF that selects you, but on what basis ❓

In reality your consistent, continuous , outstanding top level performances in your club and league should be the only YARDSTICK for national team selection.

But in Nigeria the NFF see it differently.

The question of whether it's 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice is irrelevant. How many of our players can get into the English team.

Not everyone want to play for England , Oviemuno ftom day one has wanted to play for England him and quite a lot of others. But NFF politics and conflicting interests causes multiple issues.

it is not wise to reach out to foreign born talents...

Are you kidding me? We are telling you it has a low probability of success, and you still insist it's better? On what grounds? Your last statement here is a statement of fact, and even more factual is the fact that, an overwhelming majority of those foreign-born players don't identify with their parents' origin. Which begs the question why?
it is better for them to be the ones to reach out same way Ashleigh Plumptre reached out, not all foreign borns identify with the country of their parents.

I don't, but some would call the lack of selectivity mediocrity
Nigeria also has a huge number of Nigerian born players to choose from...

You people cannot help yourself with the habit of refusing to be holistic. If choosing to abandon a method that provides a low probability of success, for another which has the potential of putting you in a position to do better, perhaps anyone's inferiority complex is justified. Some would even call that ingenuity. Ingenuity straight out of inferiority complex. Besides if you have been here for a while you would know i am a strong advocate for rather than go for the average of them, stay at home(some would disagree, and that's ok). I won't be surprised if you manage to connect this too to inferiority complex though.
the inferiority complex that made you say "You cannot wait until they start making waves and hope that by some dumb luck they will look your way. You will have to settle for the average ones."...

Are you expecting me to answer this? A newborn baby would make quick work of this question.
why can't they be "making waves" and still express their desire to play for the SE

I don't know the purpose of this question. I do not know if you are trying to ask a genuine question or just an attempt at sarcasm.
why aren't Nigeria born players that are making waves like Samuel Adegbenro, Emmnuel Bonke, Simy and Akinkunmi Amoo called to the S.E

It's quite funny that guys who were skeptical about the team are now believers. I have no doubt that we will win. There has been no time I have ever doubted this team. I just feel for my Ghanaian brothers!!
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by PurpleHouse(m): 4:31pm On Jan 22, 2022
We are talking about the World Cup Oooh. Those guys will fight bloody and play any trick possible to outsmart us. We must be fully ready, and we must take them like we are playing Brazil. Ghana know how to treat our fockup sometimes when we least expect in football.

But I am confident. Our team will be fully loaded by then. So hopefully we get the passage.

The draw is fair based on current form!
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by drDoom3(m): 4:33pm On Jan 22, 2022
We got the second easiest team to play, Ghana.

I love this draw. Mali will get to go to the World Cup for the first time, this generation deserve it.

Senegal and Algeria will have to prove why they are the best two teams in Africa currently, it is a wake-up call for both.

Morocco are also doing well for themselves, they will represent Africa well.

For us, well everyone knows we always go to world cups. If Eguavoen is at the helm, forget it. We will beat them home and away especially with the crisis they have right now. Forget all those talk of Ghana always play good against us, that’s not how football works nowadays. In our times, the team with the better tactics and/or better players win, we have both.

I have followed Ghana/Nigeria match for long. And this is the reality. Nor be the over confident im seeing here. Ghana, even if its their 3rd strings team, once they hear Nigeria their prick go raise and they want to kill, or be killed.

Our crop of players have been together for years. Now they are beginning to play to the right tactics. Add to that the firepower of our attacking depth will be in full presence. We will approach the game like a do-or-die affair as well. As long as Eguavoen continues with the team with this same spirit we will win BOTH ties.

I have never seen Nigeria press so well in years whether ahead or not.

Ghana will be difficult sha. Even in their worst form they’re always at their best when it comes yo Nigeria. Luckily enough, we are playing away first, so whatever ojoro/drama ghana is going to come up with has to be done in first leg and we finish then off in the return leg.
Personally I prefer Ghana to any teams in pot 2. Ghana team is not coordinated, they just kick the ball up and insha Allah. Oga it is not by luck we are in pot 1, fifa acknowledged us to be there grin

Maduka Okoye, Ekong, Balogun, Iwobi, Onyeka, Ebuehi and more did not come from our local pool. So what are you saying?

The pool of talents are both in Nigeria and outside.

Finito.

Our efforts remain focused inside the country.

That is how we will build a superior pool of players

Your statement above verbatim, which I responded to is blatantly prejudiced, biased and bigoted.

That's your concept of fair play and a merit based system.

Iwobi got into the SE before he had played one game for Arsenal first team, I guess his Uncle JJay,may be a factor.

Nonetheless, in the HERE and NOW he merits his position in the team alongside Ighalo, Ekong, Okoye, Ebuehi, and Onyeka.
