We were just not the better team on the day

Forget one shot on goal. It was a moment of brilliance.

We did not have a moment of brilliance

We did not score

If you lose by a goal, you deserved to lose on the day

It is what it is

There weren’t the better team also

Darkelf, your detractors have been put to shame

You said it that Nigeria would be lucky to make it to the QF. You have been vindicated

Next time, learn to respect people opinions without resorting to name-calling.

Nigeria got carried away with the covid report. shocked

We started TOO SLOW and relaxed.

No sense of urgency.

Now, we are basically on Ghana's level as far as AFCON is concerned.

Let's enjoy our "breakfast."

Better luck next time. We move! cheesy

My opinion: both Iheanacho and Umar Sadiq cannot thrive in a two.

I knew how good Sadiq was, but he and Iheanacho can never play well together as they don't complement each other.

Hahahahhhahaha! Stop counting your chick before .....

I told you don’t allow Tunisia score first.

The useless coach saw his midfield dominated by Tunisia but he had no plane b.

Benched Onyeka throughout the tournament.

The fact that Two coaches of different nationality and tactical leaning chose him means that uzoho might be worse

TheSuperNerd:
So much for not changing a "Winning team"

My patriotism and support for this team is undeniable and it is even clear in my message before this game but I did warn us that sticking to the same tactical approach will not be good for us if we must progress in this tournament especially seeing that our tactical approach denies us better Midfield control and only offers us a threat via The Simon route via the CBs' long balls.

I was concerned about our predictability. A midfield 3 of tactically balanced players would have offered us something different and widened our tactical threat in offensive transitions taking the burden off the Simon route.

It is not rocket science...

I did say, When it is technically and tactically helpful, you can indeed change a winning team.

This 442(sometimes called 4231) approach when applied right with a Gen gen press is workable against certain teams but today, even our pressing game dropped and is a far cry from the intensity we saw in the Egypt game.
Added to the fact that this approach of ours doesn't give us the kind of Midfield control we need especially in terms of chances creation and play switches.

I cried out that we need to find a way to have all our weapons on the pitch together to offer us better tactical balance but nooooooo.... Some weren't seeing the big picture. They would rather have this player or that player because he has done well in the EPL or whatever league even when he doesn't bring what we need to be better.

Well, I wrote about learning from Algeria's mistakes. Their decision to stick to the same thing that was clearly not working or that could be found out with time.

You don't change a winning team, they said.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it, they said.

But what most of you never realised is that even when we were winning, we still showed marked signs of weakness in our Middle game dynamics and in our predictable approach using the CBs' long balls to Simon (especially) which was always gonna be neutralised by a tacticallly good team.

I hope this teaches a lesson. Judge football with the big picture in mind and not with mere sense of likes or dislikes for players.

See you all in March.

I am here now nerdie

The boys gave their all especially playing 10 against 11. This is soccer for us all, that's why as a fan, every game us a 50/50 especially in the knockout phases of a competition. The omens were just against us, I am not convinced Iwobi's infringement deserved a red card and is this only me, Maduka definitely kept us in the game with one or two saves but he should have done better with that goal, anyway what do I know? We move!!!!
