I didn’t expect Eguavoen to win this tournament considering the fact that we’re not the best on paper. But, to lose to a team with a 12 record. (1 win and 2 loss record) and had over 6 first team players unavailable is just shocking. I didn’t see this one coming at all and I am very disappointed. This is a lesson to never sack coaches that meets their status quo 4 Likes |

I don't want to call Eguavoen a very poor coach. Our winning streak was down to what i term the new coach syndrome. When i saw our starting lineup against Egypt, that was when it dawned on me that we wont go far. You guys should have noticed that i was among the few that wasn't singing Eguavoen's praises. I don't want to call Eguavoen a very poor coach, because he seemed to be getting it right until what i don't know started getting into his interpretations. I said earlier that a 4-4-2 tactical setup is never the way forward, but it appeared to be the setup that Eguavoen will likely employ. When he touted Ejuke and Nwakali as key to his intents and purposes, i was alit with some glimmer of hope for the following reasons: Ejuke is a winger that can drop deep to collect the ball, do some playmaking with the ball or run with the ball towards the opposition given his insane speed, This is one the reasons why he can also and rightly be termed a midfielder, he is a midfielder in his own rights. He is a winger that slots well as a midfielder. He has the passing accuracy, and good with long balls Nwakali is a midfielder who can dictates play and creates chances. I thought he understood the importance of these players in his proposed tactical setup, but i was very wrong. Those players have no business sitting on the bench. What Eguavoen could have done. Start Ndidi and Nwakali in central midfield, Ejuke (or even Olayninka) and Aribo on the left and right midfield in a little more advanced positions. Aribo will do better when closer to the opponent's 18 yard box than he will in central midfield. Ejuke is more tactical than Moses Simon and Chukwueze and therefore a better fit for Eguavoen's tactical formation. Good tactics is one the major attributes of a midfielder. It is very glaring than Eguavoen sacrificed the midfield, that he needed the most. The midfield that is supposed to be the strength, the fulcrum and the engine that should drive his ideas. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Our fit/playing experienced players like victor Moses, ighalo, dennis all has to be recalled. At this time, it’s not a negotiation, but a MUST |

drDoom3:The Tunisians didn't do anything extra ordinary to win. We basically gave them this win. In the first half I was screaming that we were giving them too much space and respect. We backed off Tunisia, no high pressing. Aribo said it in the post match interview that we gave them too much respect. We did not play like this against Egypt. The Tunisians were surprised the way we played because they came in to the game with a mindset not to loose by a wide margin only to see us backing off and respecting them, this gave them courage. We were the hot favorites to win this tournament, that's how highly rated we were. If they lost by 2/0 they would have been happy but we kept backing off I don't know why. If we played Egypt like that, no way we would have beaten them. I don't know if Eguavoen asked them not to press the scared Tunisians. We only came out to play after conceeding and with 10 men you could see the Tunisians were scared and played like they were the ones with red card. Imagine if we played the first half with that much pressure. They would have been pinned to their 18. It was that first half disaster class that caused this loss. 5 Likes |

Barrister026:Okoye didn't finish alone, how shots on target did we get? If I say field experience players people will see me as a trouble Maker. Even Akpeyi would have been better. Uzoho and Okoye are not ripped to be in the national team when you have players like Theophilus Afelokhai and Olorunleke Ojo doing well at home. Good players are not only in Europe. How many professional matches have Uzoho and Okoye played? Rohr saw what we didn't see even though he has his short comings too |

forgiveness:I was seeing that space in the first half alot but because our defenders feel they won't take a shot at goal that's why I think they were not closing them down quickly. And that was what actually what caused the goal. |

Woke up feeling numb... My afcon don finish. Eguaveon is a great guy and he tried his best but he's not a great tactician... Why bring in Olayinka for Awo? Olayinka is a left winger for Prague and not a striker ; how come chuks stayed on for so long? Tactically, Iwobi should have been brought on at half time for an ineffective Chuks, who was struggling. Eguaveon knew the Tunisians had checkmated his 1st half strategy and did nothing about it till we went a goal down. And not once did he think the formation isn't working. I laughed when some peeps wrote off the Tunisians.. Amaju should gtfo abeg ...This defeat hurts 1 Like |

Joezinho: Na wa. Olayinka's change was brilliant. He injected pace into the side. He helped reduce the build up play. The sub was right. I wonder how you watched it and concluded that was wrong. The red card spoilt the tactical switch. 1 Like |

To be fair on okoye, defender failed to close down that shot on time. I don't understand why are dropping all blames on him. Aina and Ndidi should be getting the stick for failing to close down too. 3 Likes |

CaptainStephen: I agree that the shot could have been prevented but Okoye takes the stick due to the distance and time to deal with the ball. It was close to him. |

You see why I refused to criticize Rohr the way some people do,Rohr can decide to play attacking football if he wants but he knows that when it matters the attacking football will fail him because he knew the quality of the players at his disposal. He knew what he was doing when he benched Chukwueze and converted S. Moses to a wing back. The target in football is to get results not to play attractive football. Rohr met us when we were ranked 16th and left us at 4th position. We were gradually and consistently moving forward until we decided to play like Man City with Ekuke players 2 Likes |
