IMO, the boys tried.. Eguavon goofed by not having a plan B for when the Tunisians closed down Simon.. The midfield was lean again today, thereby allowing them overrun us.. The result was unexpected, but that's football.
The referee was obviously biased with his calls..

As for Okoye, I hope Emeka and all those who accused his critics of racism and other nonsense can now see the truth...As far as the super eagles is concerned,he isn't convincing..He doesn't deserve the number one shirt..I don't care if he joins Real Madrid tomorrow, as long as the GWG is concerned,he hasn't been convincing

For me, the coach takes all the blames.

You know you have become too predictable. You know Moses would be marked. You know they will defend tightly. Why start with the same team, same approach, same tactics, same system?

What happens to tweaking the system to take the opponents by surprise? What happens to using Iwobi, Aribo and Ndidi from the onset?

What happens to stsrting Moses from the bench and start with Ejuke or Onyekuru?

Being too predictable with a predictable system is a recipe for failure. Because soon, your opponent will decipher you and demisticate your system.

SE wasn't predictable, SE allowed the Tunisians have possessions which gave them confidence and opportunities..

then another issue was Awoniyi was non-existent which is also due to the Tunisians having possession..

Tunisia came to sit back and defend against S.E but it was the S.E that was sitting back and defending..

S.E also had a potential penalty which VAR didn't review...

It was as if the referee was against us...

S.E did not start with the same approach, same tactics and same system they used in the group stages... In the group stages the SE were closing down opposition players from the moment the match starts but against Tunisia the S.E didn't close them down...

We had 13 shots in the match. We kept creating chances with a man down. Iwobi brought in energy and keep in mind it was an attacking sub. You still had Chukwueze and Simon on the pitch.

So how do you want him to play Ejuke along with Simon and Chukwueze?

We played well yesterday. We got at the Tunisians. We did not take our chances. Then the red card made it difficult for us. Haba.

Iwobi was playing well before the red card. So how can you criticize the change?

The first half was a disaster. The Tunisians would have scored within the first 10 mins. We only started playing and pressing hard when we were a goal down. The powder puff over confidence killed our boys. They expected to win by walking around the pitch in the first half.

I was expecting our coach to try a plan B against G. Bissau, like 352,343 formation for subsequent matches but he was more concerned on giving everybody playing opportunity than tactics

Chuks should drop to the bench after this. Dennis and Ejuke should be tried there and compete.

One of our worst player in this afcon is chukwueze

Was hoping he would turn up against Tunisia ,but for where ,nothing

This is so on point. You really watched the game. Kelechi and Awoniyi were strolling around the pitch in the first half. They didn't trigger the hard pressing which was the advantage of playing with 2 strikers.

I will help you.

Half-time changes:

Onyeka in, Iheanacho out. Switch to 4-3-3, Aribo as AM.

Ejuke in, Chuks out. As Ejuke was not in matchday squad, Olayinka or Onyekuru in.

These two changes would have soliified our midfield and helped us close the gaps that led to a player having so much space to hit a screamer that close to our penalty area.
All this would have still been a gamble bro. Eguavoen might have wanted to "wait and see" if his instructions would be carried out better in the 2nd half and gbam, devil strikes

Exactly, the pressing energy we brought in the group stages was non existent in the first half

Tunisia game plan was jam-pack the wings, sit back, control possession and hit on counter. When they discovered that our goal keeper is a broiler they started shooting from all angles. If not our general team play that denied the Tunisians from shooting we would have been trashed

Another player I failed to mention in that comment was Chukwueze..

he was also non-existent and not pressing.

they were showing the Tunisians too much respect by sitting back and defending ( and strolling like you called it )...

sometimes Awoniyi and Ihenacho tried to press but the other players were "strolling"...

Eguavoen lost one in four games. In the game he lost, a goal keeping error and a red card made it difficult.

Please, leave the Rohr praises aside. We lost unfortunately. Eguavoen did very well and I am proud of him.

This particular game we lost, Rohr will defend dirty and win it or stretch it to penalty, e sure me.... Eguavoen is a good coach, but he is not good enough to give the almighty German, French, Spanish kind of football

It was that hard pressing style that won the hearts of people. Every watcher of the game crowned Nigeria as champions in waiting because of that energy which we brought in the group stage especially against Egypt who we pressed to death.
It's perplexing we played the first half as if we were jetlagged. The Tunisians traveled by road and air through 1000km. But we were the ones jetlagged. Incredible stuff

It is very mysterious how that pressing style evaporated. I was even more surprised the tunisians were getting to 2nd balls. The match was really off

safarigirl, I apologise on behalf of some members of this thread who made distasteful remarks against you. Do not take it to heart.

As for those guys trying to cyber bully her, I am ashamed of you all. You guys should even be the ones to protect her from such but you chose to do the opposite.

You can make your points without stooping so low to make such remarks. I guess attacking a woman automatically makes you not simps.

Thanks TheGoodJoe

I won't be dignifying anyone here with responses. I no get time to dey point finger when the team lost, because once again, fans do not have any say on who plays what.

And if I support any player it is because I want to support the player, everybody has who they stick their nets out for in one way or the other, and each of these players have their faults.

The abuses and insults are expected, when it comes to football, men really show how emotional they can get, and their rage is rather blind, so, the attacks are things I associate to the male folk

Everybody go dey alright eventually. Worse things have been said of my person on this thread, and as long as I am here, worse things will be said. They need a punching bag, and it is easier to come for the most vocal female in these situations.
