You can designate huge area for a city - but what is actual built up area. Nairobi Metro for example is huge - but not all of is is built up.

Mombasa Metro is big. Distance from Mombasa to Diani is 30Kms. Distance from Mombasa to Vipingo - 35Kms. Distance from Mombasa to Marikiani is 40kms - all these areas are built up.

Childish arguments.

Nairobi can never be a world class city if the inhabitants are largely poor. If the economy is fixed, sure poverty will reduce and even the slums will disappear. That's world class not a city reeling under the stench of slums.

I defend kenya with facts. You defend Nigeria with facts. But to attempt to stop us from mentioning Nigeria or South Africa is waste of time. I will mention them when I think it's appropriate. In that instance I wasnt negative about South Africa - I just said it's architecture is more European than American. Why would the Azanian feel offended by such? Most of the time I actually say positive things about South Africa because it far ahead of Kenya. They just cannot handle the few negatives.

We are fixing all that and more. I wish I could say the same about your country that every year seem to detoriate. As you have seen this year we jumped 50 places in most expensive list - by being less expensive. Nairobi became 11th most loved city by Expats. We jumped to 4th dynamic (meaning chaning for the better) city in the world. All these and many indicators from different actors - are screaming one thing - Nairobi is turning a big corner- and you may never see it again . Nairobi if you use the naked eye test is growing every year, getting better, issues being fixed, including housing, infrastructure, and name it.

Kenyans are the most sensitive people I have ever come across on the internet when it comes to their country and Nairobi in particular. Their patriotism is out of this world.

Precisely. I was just saying from Kenya down to south africa - you're likely to see more European architecture - than in Anglo-West Africa that has an American feel - and of course the French in the francophone.

That should not have elicited angry reaction but we have people who lurk here waiting for their country to be mentioned so they can unleash their personal frustration online.

At the base of this is the Azanian's Africa Exceptionalism. This thread and the other has really ripped them apart. For most Azanians they just think Africa is South Africa and rest of Africa (who live in caves). It way American regard themselves - they are best and rest of world is nothing.

It's a sacrelige to even suggest other african countries will reach their level - despite them being literally stuck. But facts are stubborn - they eventually conceded that Kigali was by far the Africa cleanest city - and I expect soon they will concede that Nairobi is the best city in Africa - if they overcome the the green-eyed monster tormenting their soul
