FAKE REVIEW/COMPARISON OF MY FIRST TIME AND MY FIRST FIRST LOVE

LoL so 100 years ago (or 2015 as normal humans call it), onstyle made a drama titled my first time starring Choi minho, park so dam, Kim min Jae, Lee yi Kyung and Cho hye jung. I kept saying I would watch it but never really got around to watching it and then boom 2019 came and Netflix decided to produce a remake of the drama starring ji soo, jung chaeyeon, jung Jin young, kang Tae oh and Choi ri, I had a lot more time then so I watched it and I kept saying I would watch the original and do a review/comparison but honestly I'm not going to lie I really don't think I'm ever going to watch the original cos I mean it's the same storyline and I'm too lazy, if I had watched the original first, it would have been easier for me to watch the remake, but now that I watched the remake first wo, I Don tire but I really wanted to see how different or similar the dramas were so I did watch episode 1 of the original so my review/comparison is going to be only episode 1 of both dramas. Lol I really don't know what I aim to achieve by reviewing only 1 episode, I know I am going to be biased cos I watched all 16 episodes of the remake but only episode 1 of the original, there's no way I can judge them fairly. Anyway to the madness

No of episodes : the original had 16 episodes, while the remake had 16 episodes which were divided into two to make season 1&2, even though I didn't fully watch the original, I think I prefer watching 16 straight episodes than the remake where I had to watch 8 episodes first and wait for 3 months to be able to complete the remaining 8 episodes. I feel like if I wasn't so in love with the cast I might have lost interest before the 2nd season was released cos it felt like a rude interruption followed by an awkward attempt to continue a conversation.

Plot: the plot of the drama is pretty much the same except for a few tweaks. In the original, the female lead has a younger sister, while in the remake she's an only child. In the remake, from episode 1 it is quickly established that the the male lead has a stepbrother while in the original, at least in the episode 1 that I watched, I didn't see anything about a stepbrother so I don't know if he exists. In the original, the main cast have all been friends from the beginning but in the remake they all met later on, they each had a friendship with the male lead and got to meet the rest because of him. In the remake garin's character is a sheltered chaebol but in the first episode of the original, I didn't get that vibe from her at all. The original is a bit more cutesy and variety like while the remake is a bit more serious, it does have its cute and funny parts too but it's not as variety-feeling as the original. Based on their wardrobe, I think the original was filmed in summer cos they were a lot of flimsy and weird outfits especially that of the female lead, while the remake was probably filmed in autumn/winter and the clothes were more normal lol. In the original, the female lead ends up with the 2nd male lead while in the remake she gets the opportunity to be in a relationship with both male leads. At the end of season 1, she ends up with the 2nd male lead and by season 2 they break up and she ends up with the male lead. I'm sort of torn cos I prefer the remake where she gets to date the two guys but I also hated it. In both the original and the remake, both male leads are written as sweet, wholesome guys, it's the kind of situation where you'd be fine with anyone of them getting her but you'd also be bummed that the 2nd person didn't get her. I feel like as much as the people who watched the original were happy that she ended up with the 2nd male lead, they might have also complained that the main lead ended up alone so they decided to make her date both of them in the remake, which I actually really loved cos yayy everybody wins but what I hated about it was how unbelievable and forced the breakup between the female lead and 2nd male lead felt. I know people grow apart and situations can make even the loveliest couple break up, but they took a lot of time and attention in writing these characters as sensible, rational human beings who genuinely care for each other but because they had to find a way to get the female and male lead together, they introduced pretty bleh circumstances that on a normal day wouldn't have fazed the couple and blew it up so that next thing we know, they're broken up and oh look she's suddenly in love with the male lead who was originally her first love and bla bla bla, I loved it but yeah not completely, I wish they had made the 2nd lead a jerk or something so that I'd at least have a reason to hate him lol.

Casting: let me just say now that nobody was better than anybody. They all did amazing based on the script they were given. I'm just basically talking about their similarities/differences

Minho VS ji soo : so uri male lead is rich, spoilt, pampered and used to doing whatever he likes but he is very very sweet. No rudeness, no dark broody male lead here, he's a happy baby who's content with spending time with his friends and helping them through difficult circumstances. The only difference is minho's character is a bit more cutesy than jisoo's, while jisoo is a bit more spoilt but totally in a funny way and he is a bit more tsundere than minho's which sort of makes him sweeter when he helps out after swearing upandan that he wouldn't. To be fair I only watched 1 episode of minho so like I said BIASED!!

Park so dam VS jung chaeyeon : these 2 are probably the most similar among the characters, they play the typical nice, poor Cinderella girl except for the fact that they are both stubborn and prefer to do things on their own instead of looking for a random prince to come save them. They're broke but they have pride and they only ask for help when they really need it. The only difference is that park so dam's character was a bit more playful and cutesy with the rest of the cast while chaeyeon was really only very playful with the male lead cos they've been childhood friends

Kim min Jae VS jung Jin young : the very nice, more sensible 2nd male lead. The difference between them and the male lead is that while the male lead is a playful flirt, uri 2nd male lead is a serious studious boy that doesn't flirt around, and he's not exactly rich but his family makes do. The difference between kmj and jjy is that cos in the original, they have all known each other since high school, there was already a friendship between him and the female lead so they could be cute and make jokes with with each other immediately but in the remake jjy and the female lead had to go through the from "misunderstanding to lovers" trope cos they met by coincidence

Lee yi Kyung VS kang Tae oh : this character is the funny friend and while they both did well, I think I prefer kang Tae oh in the remake cos even though he was hilarious and all, he seemed to be a bit more sensible than Lee yi Kyung in the original who just gave dumb vibes. Of course I only saw 1 episode so BIASED! LOL

Cho hye jung VS Choi ri : like I said earlier in the original Cho hye jung seems like a normal sensible girl next door character, who's friends with the rest of the group and she even has talent for hairdressing and that's all I got to see about her but in the remake Choi ri is a sheltered chaebol who wants to break free and experience the world for herself. Aside from kang Tae oh, she's the 2nd truly hilarious character in the remake as we see her trying to understand normal things like cup ramen and other stuff her overprotective mom won't let her touch.

There's another character, a pretty girl who uri male lead falls for as the flirtatious man that he is but I don't really see the need to write about her since she's not really a main cast member, although I think she does have a more prominent role in the original than in the remake cos she's included in the drama posters of the original but excluded in the remake.


After all of this talk talk (or write write). The superior drama is the original! Because well at least none of the cast members have been exposed as a shady human being, meanwhile oga male lead in the remake was exposed as a bully in high school and for now his career is on hold (I wonder if he'll ever have a comeback, he is so talented *sigh*).

Anyway if you have watched both versions, please tell me which you prefer and let me know if you really think I've missed a lot by not watching the original. If you can convince me, I might go watch it.

I've only seen her cameos in salamander guru and the shadows and producers.

While I think she has the ability to be a good actress, I need her to keep making music on ravi's couch. She's really good, she can go ahead and make a baby on that couch too if she feels like it. They just need to release similar statements next time (if there is a next time)

Wowwwwwww son dam bi is getting married and I'm happy for her

And thennnnnnn park se young is getting married omG to her cast mate from school 2013 gosh, I'm super excited for them. I know all the cast of school have been close friends since the drama aired but I really didn't know these 2 were dating eotteoke! I don't even think they had scenes together in that drama except for the classroom scenes. She was the female lead/brainiac of the class while he was the chief bully of the class so their paths didn't really cross. Awwn I love this news so much and the fact that she's getting married a month after her BFF park shin hye is just giving me awwwwwnnnn vibes, I actually want to cry (pms is a bi!tch)

Without getting any reviews, I went ahead to start NEMESIS (MY NAME). I just pray and hope that I'm doing the right thing and I won't end up being disappointed.
Currently at ep01 and the storyline is already built up. Well what am I expecting from a short episode drama? Nobody care to offer me a little bit of review leaving me to stand on a threshold. But here am I diving into it already. I hope it end well
