Islamic group, MURIC, has alleged that Afenifere has refused to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's presidential ambition because the former Lagos state governor is a Muslim.
Ishaq Akintola, MURIC's leader said: “It is the turn of a Yoruba Muslim presidency after Obasanjo, Shonekan, and Osinbajo. This for us is non-negotiable. No retreat, no surrender.”

This ofcourse is evident in the leadership composition of the organisation with little or no Muslim membership unlike the Arewa consultative forum that has had Christians as chairmen with the current being Audu Ogbeh, a Christian from benue state.
