Kunle Afolayan, Kemi Adetiba and Ayo Makun are proving to be some of the best things that ever happened to Nigeria's Nollywood.

I hate to see low-budget Nigerian movies because they are veryyyyyyyy annoying. However, those three names are rewriting the narrative. Asaba guys gave us quantity, Lagos people gave us quality.

Still asking White people to teach Black people how to use microphone?
We don't need more film schools in Nigeria, because thousands of the graduates of the various film schools in the country are redundant and majority of their movies are substandard and selling cheap.

Focus should be on the production of premium content of international standards.

If you want to capture a dragon, don't waste your time chasing after a monitor lizard.
If you want to capture the big picture, don't settle for the miniature.

After 93 years of filmmaking in Nigeria since Geoffrey Barkas made his "Palaver" in 1926 and later won an #Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film in 1936 for his "Wings Over Everest", it is long overdue for Nigerian filmmakers to compete with the best at the highest level of the global film industry.

I am still looking for the fantastic NIgerian movies that can be at par with the fantastic South Korean movies . May be such movies are waiting for me to make them.

But they sell cheap to Netflix compared to the millions of dollars Netflix pays for South Korean movies.
Netflix even pays more for South African movies and series than NIgerian movies and series.

Good man.

I wish they would bring it to Calabar.

Spread the development around.

That place is serene enough and naturalistic for film and television.

Make Calabar a film and tourism village.

I think everything depends on the content sellability. If Netflix makes more money from showing your movies to its subscribers, it is likely to pay more. But then, data is not so cheap in Nigeria. As a result, many of us prefer cable TV to online streaming platforms.

The same thing plays out on Google AdSense for Nigeria and US versions. Google pays more for US AdSense account than Nigerian AdSense account because an American is more likely to order a digital product than a Nigerian. Their disposable income is high.

PS: This is my opinion, but the Google analogy is a fact.

Please what movie has Kemi Adetiba done? The name is familiar and I think I've come across it, in a few productions but for the life of me, I can't recall the titles now. Was it Flower Girl or Merry Men?

I agree Ayo Makun is a wonderful addition to Nollywood, he co-produced Merry Men, right? Why is Emem Isong not on your list? Reloaded was one of her productions that busts my head till now, simply because of Ramsey and Nse's roles.

Those two act so well, they are always a pleasure to watch. I just love how they get into character, effortlessly switch from speaking really good English to pidgin or yoruba (in Ramsey's case) and back again to good English and diction.

I recently stumbled on a drama series with Ramsey in it, a few words he said and his delivery of it cracked me up so bad. I still smile or laugh when I recall it. It was - Yay, I don die.

The guy is extremely good in his trade, I am tripped abeg. Anyone who knows him personally should please show him this post, he deserves the applause.

Apologies! If I had to mention all the names, it would be a very long list.

Just google Kemi Adetiba to know all her movies.

That said, my last sentence summarizes everything. I need those guys in Asaba that MultiChoice always shows their movies on Africa Magic Epic to up their game.

They have been in the industry for decades and need to do better than they are currently doing. They need to work on their content to give us some cinema-grade films.
