LoL, I think it's cos Nigerians read meaning into people asking them for a thing, time or place.

There was a conspiracy that ritualists or con men use that trick.

1. Why do we apologize before saying anything in Nigeria? Eg “please don't be angry, where is First Bank located here?” “Abeg, no vex, where I go fit piss here?”

2. Why do we say ‘no problem’ or ‘no wahala’ when told to do sth after a conversation?

You never see canada then. They can say sorry eh

Cuz average Nigerian is an hungry angry man/woman

If you dont beg/please them before asking questions, it means you rude to them.

So to be on the safer side, just beg dem bf anything and thank dem after rendering d assistance/help

It's because of our cultural heritage...
Look at it closely...

It's a norm...
Other environs also has expressions such as those, which are not lexically present in their language...

You are right, they have been discriminated and they experience systemic racism, and they remember how they have been treated, and it has not changed much.

Some dislike Africans also, since they remember how Africans sold them into slavery for peanuts.

even here. Before an Italian asked you a question he/she will first apologise. Like, "mi scusi". More like 'sorry' or "i'm sorry". Before asking any question. It's normal because the person Is seeking your help. It isn't a Nigeria thing. It is general

2. Re-affirmation.

OP, I don't see anything wrong in these things... You're simply trying to create a storm in a tea cup. I think your brain needs an oil change. angry

Abeg, where I fit piss sound more respect
Re: Why Do Nigerians Do These Things? by VicM6: 6:35pm On Jan 26, 2022
OP, u neva see whr u ask person for direction nd the person go change am for u badly like say una both don knw each other b4....So in dat case, u have to apologize b4 asking anytin frm someone...

When some tells u no problem at the end of a conversation means he or she can assured you 80% of what u demanded from him or her bt if the said person ends it with OK, then forget o.

There is a difference sometimes in tonality, Nigerians ask in the tone of begging, and Italian will ask in the tone of gentleness

It's basically that being polite increases your chances of getting your request to a complete stranger granted. In English one will say something like the following to a stranger:

- If you don't mind, could you please point me in the direction of the nearest bus stop"?
Re: Why Do Nigerians Do These Things? by Hassanmaye(m): 6:37pm On Jan 26, 2022
PotatoSalad:
"No wahala" is light Aight in English.

We say 'please' because we don't know the current state of mind of the next person in this country. You fit dey ask for directions from person rushing to pay ransom for his kidnapped son, or somebody that just lost his life savings to Racksterli, or a lady that was just served hot breakfast.
Make dem no transfer their aggression to you
What is hot breakfast grin
