Kog45: One of the key performance indicators in midfield above all else. Is WORK RATE, it doesn't matter how much dribbling you can do or skills you may possess. Without work rate you will amount to nothing. When a Midfielder has the ball he is an attacker when he does not have the ball he is a defender. Thats the basics. What makes your Ngole Kante so good is his phenomenal work rate. Then you add all the other attributes, interceptions, tackles, passing range , pace , shooting accuracy, skill and Excellent first touch. This is why I was bewildered how Onyeka did not get into the team. Add to that Iwobi, the last two seasons has seen Iwobi work rate go tremendously up. Because Everton is a very hard working team , there are no passengers in the team. In the Tunisia game we had a Midfielder who doesn't work that's KC. Him and a few others were lethargic and did not do the high press as s collective that got us so much success in an previous g as me. In addition they did not backtrack and defend. 5 Likes 1 Share |

komekn: you're not fully correct and this is where a lot of people mis-understand sports.... when a team has the ball they all change to an offensive approach while when a team doesn't have the ball they all change to a defensive approach when I say "they" I mean the entire team no matter their position.. In the Tunisia game we had a Midfielder and a winger that didn't want to defend and that's KC and Chukwueze.. 2 Likes |

Dannyxy: some of this "minnows" like you call them also have footballers playing in euro:pean/asian/saudi/qatar leagues, If you follow news on players like Sadio Mane and Alfredo Morelos and the things they do for their communities back in home countries like building football academies, buying football boots, scholarships e.t.c then you'll realize the "minnows" also have football infrastructure from their players and also from euro:pean football clubs... Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka e.t.c. are from the same FC Mid"tjy:lland in Nigeria.. and I'm sure other euro:pean clubs also have academies in the countries you call "minnows".. A football team has only 23 players , so all the "minnows" need are the best 23 players or best 15 players who are playing for eur:opean/asian/saudi/qatar clubs to represent the country... apart from players playing outside Africa and eur:opean clubs building academies, this African "minnows" also have natural resources that they can use fund their sports or football especially with Ch:ina giving out loans.. Corrupt "minnows" govt officials can invest money in sports or their govt itself can invest in sports.. In the 90s, there was no country giving out billions in loans to African countries to help build their infrastructure and ensure that infrastructure gets built.. It was all about poverty, coups and under-developing Africa... so please don't compare 90s Africa to 2020s Africa, even eur:opean teams will struggle to beat a lot of African teams... you're right about the refereeing.. |

Seems my predictions may come true afterall I predicted at least 2 North-Africans in the Semis and if the West Africans slip, then it's their fault Naija loosing out in the second round did not come as a surprise to me. I predicted that as well Now, let the wailers cry blood |

darkelf: So you really wanted naija to loose so you will come out with shebi I tell una ? We lost out at the second round surprisingly, because For more than so many years at the afcon naija haven’t gone out at this round ,so I don’t understand why you are saying you predicted naija to be kicked out at this round ,deep down you know you are lying to yourself But one thing about you is if naija is winning you always hide your head and wait till they lost I always see you different from the way others see you but you are now more of a troll I am sure you also predicted Algeria as favorite but you won’t say about that also Enjoy your trolling jare . |

Meliforme: Yeah the Jewish own calendar considered Evening to Morning as a full day in their own reckoning While the Egyptians, Babylonians, was vice versa. Some other cultures align with either of both sides from times before. |

andrewbaba44: Bros, I actually wanted us to win and in secret I was watching the match and jubilating at our goals. Online trolling is just past time to me. But you people are taking it personal. In fact I was already crafting my apology write up for this thread when Tunisia broke Naija hearts. But you can t say I wasn't quite right. But for the Algeria mishap, all I predicted seems to be coming true so far. And to be honest, I don't quite like it because I'm a full-blooded Nigerian |

Kog45: I doubt you miss him more than me. The closest was Onyeka, a top performer that was made to sit the bench for virtually no reason whatsoever. That part irks and makes me outraged. Its like saying Osaze is performing at WestBrom and then he comes to Afcon camp and then he is made to warm the bench cos of ..................(the gap has whatever excuse there is) Well, we go dey alright. For now. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Typical Ivory Coast expect them to choke. If you want to beat a west African team, just pack your midfield and allow them to attack from the wings and your chances of winning is High |

andrewbaba44: I dey tell you bro. Same thing the argentines did in 1990.. Most peeps initially wrote off the Egyptians but dem dey QF now and I don't see Morocco stopping them.. Just like everything in life, it's not how you start a tournament, it's how you finish. Congrats to Tunisia and Egypt... A valuable lesson for Nigeria to emulate going forward. 3 Likes |
