Having long rolled out digital platforms in all primary and secondary schools - that involved electrifying all schools, giving them laptops and audio-visual equipments - Kenya has launched virtual lessons to address teacher shortage.

It remains to be seen if this will stem the woeful failure Kenya's final year secondary school students always encounter.

If we used Ghana method of measuring electricity access - we would be 100 percent - because you basically count community access - as electricity access smiley smiley

Between 2014 and 2016, the government of Kenya embarked on an extensive electrification project targeting all schools. Schools near the grid network were connect to grid electricity while those further received solar photovoltaics. This increased the share of schools with electricity from 56% in 2014 to 94% in 2016

Then we have supplied 99 percent of all schools with digital tools

I was taking my niece to college recently - and I asked her about exams - and she confirmed - Kenya exams since 2015 changed from Nigeria type crap (List or Name this) - into analytical exams - she told me in all subject except maybe CRE and Agri.

If West Africa kids were to sit for Kenya exams - failure rate will be close to 100 percent. In fact I recall reading getting kids scoring an A in Kenya biology (should be one simplest STEM) has become so hard..medicine courses have issues.

In short - you get what you measure - I am sure kids in Burundi and Nigeria pass their easy exams - but when will you make the turn for better and really measure that critical thinking skills?

What is the plan to sell cement - about 3 times lower like Kenya. Otherwise this good for Rabiu & his few employees- and bad for Nigeria. It's better if you were to continue importing - for surely manufacturing something that is almost 4 times more expensive than global prices is crazy

Mad cow it's how Ghana measure electricity access - if a community or village has some wires - then you declare everyone has electricity - dont worry India has similar methodology smiley smiley - it's very misleading

For this reason, although MoP estimated electricity access in 2010 to be about 72% (meaning 72% of Ghana's population lived in communities with access to electricity ...

If Nigerian kids sit for exams in Kenya, the pass rate would be close to 100. If your kids are failing exams simply because they are asked to analyse stuff, then it shows they've been poorly prepared and frivolous on their own part.

Same goes for your nurses, who struggle to pass basic literacy exams. grin Kenya's education is bad. Simple.

Idle talks. PISA like assessment accross countries have been done over the years - and Kenya kids are only competing with Mauritus in Africa. You compete as always with Somalia and Burundi...though you beat them in number of kids out of school...in streets begging.

in Ghana when we send electricity to rural communities.... We give every house a free meter with 3 months of free subscription and connect everyone of them to the grid for free..also the meters are placed on a year subside program

Fight it all you want but those are the facts .... Meanwhile your country is still asking it rural folks to buy meters and pay for connection to their houses....

No wonder your country is so dark

The state has population of about 5 million and the state capital is madly growing, so all these projects are needed, beside, we should always plan ahead.
Lagos is already building such process across the state, and mostly at mainland, this project bellow is such types of projects recently lunched

You cannot be biggest in West and Central when you are not part of those regions.

It's impossible for a Ukraine to say biggest in East and West Europe while it's located in East Europe.

So Kenya cannot claim biggest in Central while it's not in Central or West regions

Did I think you only have a problem with Kenyans mentioning SA? Then I was wrong.

You're now intrigued by the fact that SA was not acknowledged in that convo like "*** biggest military hospital outside SA in sub-Saharan."

When will you stop crying out - like a toddler? cool

Your chart does not support your claims. And it definitely doesn't negate the facts that your kids fail their final exams woefully.

I believe this is sarcasm. cool.. Cos man, Nigeria is building with no plans. Nice buildings integrated with shanties can't impress anyone. Try to implement zoning laws, focus on green tech, building codes, landscaping, and nature parks, Then you'll be good to go.

Exactly. The Kenyans promoted this their Nairobi so well, why for us we never saw Tourusm as important because of oil, and so everyone who comes to Nigeria is first exposed to MMIA and mainland lagos grin.
Lekki/Ikoyi are there with their Hotels, Skyscrapers, and what have you. Constant electricity is not a problem in some parts of Nigeria, if you can pay for it. Just that it's better the Government provides constant electricity and for all especially.

The major problem visitors have with Lagos (usually extrapolated to all of Nigeria) is that it is fast and rugged. People want somewhere a bit relaxed, but there is Jos and of course Abuja or Lekki if you have the money.
