Another thing is that I'm a self hustler so ill be taking it small small at least 3hrs in a day so that ill be able to do other things for my dear self.

Bandwagon approach is not effective. It gets to a time, it is no longer your certification or skills that helps you. It's the network you have built over the years.

My suggestion: carve a niche for yourself. Find a product and manage (you must not be the one to do the coding or UI/UX design). Patent it. Sign NDAs and see yourself grow.

The top is getting crowded. Move away from the noise of the crowd. Lastly pray to God to assist you and be diligent and consistent.

I wanted to go for the web dev but wen i researched more on how to get a job on it and i started seeing something like... Build a site, register with this, network with some gurus, have ur own portfolios, apply on LinkedIn...bla bla bla, i just lost interest straight away,

I dont want to waste my precious years on skills that i wil be struggling to make 200k a month

At the end of the day you have to stick with the one that you can cope with, faboulous future or not.

Although If you are looking to escape poverty in easier fashion, I would encourage you to shun that teacher of yours and go to Udacity to learn Flutter from scratch. It is free, As long as you have a roof over your head & your parents are giving you 3 square meals, It means you have no instant responsibility hence you can learn for 3 months straight with no distractions.

Network field or career doesn't pay that well especially for Begineer to Mid-level, money you can make in one month writing Flutter as a Beginner, in 6 months you'd be lucky to get it with networking on that same beginner level.

The choice is yours oh.

Not entirely correct Sir. Networking hardware sales aren't what they were anymore especially for clients migrating to the cloud.
Most clients are no longer spending 60-70m to buy top notch Fortinet, Cisco or Checkpoint FWs anymore especially if they're not running some private or hybrid cloud with a Data Centre.
Now, cloud providers procure these devices from the vendors (AWS uses Cisco predominantly for example) and their functions are shared amongst 100s/1000s of hosted customers.
You may want to google and read a whitepaper by Cisco on Future of Firewall if you're chanced to.

But seriously, security in the cloud isn't anything like the traditional security architectures. I say this cos I've done both.

When I started learning, I used udemy and downloaded courses, I found it difficult to follow some tutors like max, l left his course and downloaded Angela yu, at some point during learning I paused and asked myself if I was really intelligent like I have always believed, I spent 2 weeks learning how to use row and column in same screen, but today, I look back and smile, those are really little things and not anywhere as complex and difficult as I thought, all I needed was time to grasp the concepts, syntax and all.

Get hold of your self and start now, stop procrastinating and jumping from one place to another.

I left networking for cloud and I have never regretted my decision. Networking is hard to learn and you can't be an experienced network engineer sitting in your home. They are very underrated, underpaid and unappreciated. I called it quit after I got to the peak of my networking career with my CCNP R&S cert, companies still offered me 200k with all the sufferings and years of experience.

My advice? Go for flutter programming and leave networking

Making android apps is a nice niche, you can also think about backend and learn php. There are so many cool offers for php developers.

The obvious choice will be Java, but for me, I will go for SQL, with either JavaScript or PHP for front-end Display presentation. Be an expert on all facets of SQL language. That way if you decided you don't want to be a Programmer you can branch off into Database Administrator. SQL doesn't change much from one system to another. It's a 4 generation language, and easier to learn

I discovered Json five years ago. It had made my life , and my web service calls better. I will never go back to XML wsdl.

Starting with flutter was a bad idea, you should have begun with the rudiments like html css and then moved to JavaScript before talking of flutter and co.

That is a promising part but if you struggle with coding and you love hardware stuff like networking, then you are just like me

Networking in Nigeria and globally is dying!!! The cloud is F**cking them up. Startups are pushing all their resources to the cloud with little to no resources onprem thus making the demand for highly skilled networkers lesser.

I have a bunch of certificates I worked my a** for including CCNP so listen to me fam!!!
#I should never have gone the CCNP route so don't be like me

Instead if networking, focus on Network security and then pivot sharply to the cloud

The tools used to secure a network are still used by top leading organization who dont wish to move quickly to the cloud due to compliance reasons.

They say the cloud is someone's else computer, so some are still scared storing sensitive data in the cloud. So you need that router,switches and firewall knowledge fam

Once you have a good grasp of these network security, switch to the cloud asap!!!

It's a lot easier to understand how things are built and secured in the cloud if you have done it onpremises.

- Get your CCNA, (it can be done in 4-5months)

- Picking a Firewall (it's easier to learn one very quickly if your ccna knowledge is solid)

- Learn python (Mandatory, you will need it for almost any area now in tech to automate repetitive tasks either in the cloud or in networking)

- Switch to the cloud and learn how to build secure & resilient architectures (AWS is free for one year so no excuse). This skill is the most important coz this is the future.


#you will know the next skill to pick up by the time you are done with the above

virtually everything. I'm a regular aws guy. Though having strong network background helped me. I have the highest network cert with aws and I got it very easily. I've fully migrated to devops and currently head of my department. So yes, networking helped me a lot but I never got the pay I wanted while at it, but it is a Nigeria thing, not the same abroad
