Hello Nairaland,

Good afternoon to you all.

Help a brother. I had a Fintech account which I used in the past and somehow saved the account number in my GTBANK as one of my recipients. Surprisingly, it was saved as an account with WEMA bank. ( a glitch maybe).

Some weeks ago, I needed to send money to my mum but mistakenly sent the money to that my FINTECH account that I do not have access to. The mistake was because the first letters of our names (myself and my mum) are the same and the each names have 5 alphabets and then the surname as you would guess is the same. Also, she uses Wema bank. It was when my mum said she had not seen the alert then I realized the money was sent to my Fintech account bearing Wema bank.

Now the issue is that GTBANK has lodged a complaint to Wema bank to return the money but Wema bank is saying they aren’t with the money that we should contact the FINTECH company but I do not remember which one it was and I have tried elimination method to know which but nothing is yielding.

We have sent a complain to interbank but nothing came back as well.

The money is substantial hence my wanting to get it back.

Anyone with a useful information should help please.

The account number starts with 7….. and ends with 99.

Who ever that gives me useful tip to help me recover the money, I will appreciate the person with 10,000 air time of any network.

Admins please front page.

Write to CBN and tell them what? This is not a case of fraud or impropriety on the part of the bank

If u don't know how banking works keep quiet and stop making it look like without fraud u can't report a commercial bank or any bank in Nigeria. Any failed transaction should be reported to CBN on or before 72 hours.
Their regulatory functions are vast such that many Nigerian who like follow, follow can't understand or read to understand what CBN stands for in the nations financial system.

Stop talking nonsense!

This is not a case of a failed transaction...he inadvertently sent money to an account he created in the past and for which he can no longer recollect the details!

Since you have subpar comprehension skills go back and read what the OP posted...read it 10times if necessary until you understand his predicament

Here is what you should do - go to your email and start reviewing the emails you received around the time you opened the account. You will surely find at least 1 email from that Fintech (it will be either for account validation, statement of your balance or birthday wish on your birthdate)

Cheers!
