Op is confused, thought atheism is not religion Or a belief. A martyr is someone who is killed for their belief, so when has atheism become a belief? Atheism is copying religion a concept it claims to oppose, confusing confusion? How a self claim intelligent person could believe the well structured universe, life itself is a product of nothingness or cosmic accident is the highest form of stupidity that can ever exist. The proof of God is the everything you see around you. Life can only come from life, life can never come from non living thing. 1 Like |

Datboredberry:I think just a few but there is this guy Thomas Aikenhead who questioned the historicity of "Jesus Christ" He was killed in 1697 and his crimes were no more offensive than questioning the historicity of Christ.. Then they wanted him dead to serve as a warning to others.. 1 Like |

Steep:Atheism can also be said to be the the belief that gods doesn't exist.. Right or wrong? So why can't you be martyred cos of that belief or idealogy..it musn't be really about religion.. A Marty is someone who suffers persecution due to his belief..faith..and cause... So sure atheist can be martyred and it happened.. 3 Likes 1 Share |

FERNANDEZISBACK:Atheist is usually defined as unbelief in God. You have just defined atheism as a religion. Atheists are not innocent as they are part of those who persecute and murder theists and diverse views. 1 Like |

Datboredberry:that was because majority of the populace were theists so it is expected to be atheists who were few but the overall issue is that of humanity in general not a matter of theists or non theists. |
Re: Martyrs Of Atheism? by Workch: 5:35pm On Jan 30, 2022 |
FERNANDEZISBACK:Atheism is not a belief. It's a "disbelief" in the claim made by religious people that God exist which they have refused to provide evidence for since the idea was first conceived. I don't believe is the key word 1 Like |

Only believers can lay down their lives instead of denying their faith, atheists are faithless they're ready to deny everything else as long as they are spared to continue living. So atheists can be defined as people who only believe (trust) in themselves, as long as they live they believe or trust no one else! 1 Like |

Steep:This much we know. However you're being disingenuous by pretending you don't understand the purpose of the OP. This topic is about people who've been killed because of their lack of belief in gods. Don't you think it says some things about the intolerance and "us versus them" mentality prevalent in the world's most prominent religions? Especially Christianity where "love your neighbor as yourself" is pretty much expressed by adherents as a fundamental maxim? Please let's face the topic. 3 Likes |

Re: Martyrs Of Atheism? by Steep(m): 8:06am On Jan 31, 2022 |
LordTheus:The word "maryr" can not be used for atheism because atheism is a disbelief not a belief. That is not to say atheist should be killed for their disbelief which is very very rare except maybe in Islamic countries which actually targets Christians and jews. Christians do not believe in killing non believers or persecuting non believers but in converting them through love and Meekness otherwise they would be left alone to live in peace. There must be 'Us vs them' because there exists different ideology and belief system. For example you won't agree to be lumped together with theists because you are not, it is not a matter of mentality but of reality. |

Steep:Yes and all the crusades against Muslim or the wars between Protestants and catholics(killing more than 8 million people) and the christain colonizers who made Africans slaves, all of that was done using love. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Steep: That is not the only definition of martyr. : a person who sacrifices something of great value and especially life itself for the sake of principle a martyr to the cause of freedom https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/martyr Basically anyone who dies for the sake of any cause is a martyr religious cause or not. Ken Saro Wiwa was a martyr for the Niger Delta cause. Atheism is copying religion a concept it claims to oppose, confusing confusion? There is no copying rather you are attempting to appropriate general terms to make them exclusively religious. Not every regular gathering of people constitutes a religious service for instance. How a self claim intelligent person could believe the well structured universe, life itself is a product of nothingness or cosmic accident is the highest form of stupidity that can ever exist. When will you become reasonable and stop saying something you've have been corrected on several times. Atheists don't say life is a product of nothingness or a cosmic accident. The proof of God is the everything you see around you. Then this also proof that Odin, Thor, Zeus, Sango, Osun, etc. are real. 2 Likes 1 Share |
