Lekiboboe:

Go for one of the 2years program cos it gonna offer you 3 years PGWP

Thank you for your response.

With huge consideration to the lesser tuition from NBCC, and the fact that the 2years program are due for January 2023, can I confirm how one can best leverage a 1 year PGWP to PR?

After successfully raising a webform. You'll see a message stating that you should give them 30 days to get back to you. If they don't that's your cue.
Calmdancer21:
I want to appreciate everyone of you for the time and efforts you put into this group, no amount of thank you can ever be enough. May God keep blessing all of you.
P.S I am a Nov 23 applicant, I recently raise a web form to update IRCC about me deferring my admission to May 2022, when do I start sending emails? And please I will be needing those email addresses too. Thanks
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by Omiinii: 7:33pm On Feb 09, 2022
Even lawyers wouldn't advise you to go for a program that only guarantees 1 year PGWP. Everyone's goal is different. Some just want to get the canada. Whatever happens afterwards doesn't concern them while some want to benefit as well by gaining status. PR/Citizenship. If your goal is the latter, A 1 year program shouldn't even be on your radar. Get it right. There's nothing to leverage with a one year PGWP. No need for me to even explicate further.

cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy mine says "We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements."

Good day Nairalanders,

My eligibility review started a weeks ago with "we're currently processing and checking if you meet the eligibility criteria" to "we assess whether you meet the eligibility criteria" as of today.
Please are both of the statements the same thing? Or do they mean different things?

Hello Gurus,

My application was refused today based on "PERSONAL ASSETS AND FINANCIAL STATUS."

1. Please how do I handle this?

2. How long does it take to get the GCMS notes?

Thanks

[quote author=technix post=110085367]He needs a four-month statement of account.
He doesn't need to transfer any money to your account yet.
Just mention in your LOE that he is your sponsor. He should also write a letter that he is sponsoring you. Then attach your marriage certificate. As an extra, if you have kids, you may attach their birth certificates since they contain your name and your husband's.

[
[Thank you very much. What about my statement of account? How many months am I to submit? ]

Even a police man is not expected to choose yes, how much more you that attended police secondary school. For your info, police is civilian. Military is Army, Navy and Airforce. Any organization outside these three are civilians. Putting on uniforms and bearing arms does not qualify one as military.

The bolded is how you handle it.
You need to get your notes and refire.
Tidy up loose ends as highlighted by the officer and reapply. If you feel the reasons for refusal are arbitrary. You could JR if you'd like to because alot of people are refused without reason these days.

Thank you so much for taking out time to address me.
I searched through university of Calgary website and I found out that they have 1 year international professional programs which is no.1 DIGITAL MEDIA AND MARKETING NO.2 PROJECT MANAGEMENT NO3. BUSINESS ANALYSIS AND ANALYSTICS. All these are 1 year programs but an international student can choose to apply for two programs which is two years and can guarantee 2 pgwp. The tuition and fees per year is $21,500.

I want to know which certificate would I get after this programs would it be PGD or PGC or just certificate in project management or certificate in digital media and marketing. Because I want to apply for digital media and marketing and project management

And please what's the chances of visa approval with these programs.
Thank you and hoping for reply

Aviod one year programs if you want easy 2-3 PGWP. Going from one program to another is not easy and doing two unrelated courses is definitely not good for your profile. Now, about the programs you mentioned at UofC. UofC is a great school, but some of those programs are not lucrative or competitive.

For myself, I will aviod any education program in project management. Project management is industry related and approach might vary per industry or technical experience. A person with a 2 year diploma and 4 years of construction experience will get a construction-related project management job before someone with a project management degree and zero construction experience.

I don't know much about the digital marketing field, but it sounds like an ordinary buzzword to me. With my 4+ years experience in Canada, I will definitely not invest my money and time in such program. The final one, business analytics is definitely interesting and there are a lot of jobs currently in that field. I may do that but it might not be a good choice for you.

You see my options are related to my experience and needs, but not yours. So you will have to ask yourself what you want. However, if you were my brother, I will encourage you do go for SAIT program i recommended because it is cheaper in total (35k+ tuition for the two years), related to your OND, and have a one year internship (usually full time paid and exeprience in canada is more valuable than schooling). The program also get you a bachelors degree. A degree is usually the minimum requirement for most senior level positions in canada. When you get to that stage, having a diploma and post diploma might not cut it. I am a university of calgary alumni, but I will choose that SAIT program before any of the UofC program you mentioned based on the points I mentioned.

About student visa, no program or person can guarantee it. However, a higher education program compared to applicant last education improves its chances. In your case, a bachelor's degree is higher than ordinary diploma. A PGC/D is also higher than ordinary diploma. So the choice is yours.

All the best.

PPR Alert Guys!!!

P:S The application is for my fiancée. However, I was 100% involved in the second application. (we started dating in 2021)

Second Application - November 5th, 2021
First application in 2020 was refused based on purpose of visit, home ties and personal assets.

A quick backstory he has was studying for Masters and applied for a Post Graduate Certificate. He disclosed this in his first application.

What he I feel he did wrong in the first application:
1. He was not done with the Masters at the time he applied in 2020. (He studied in an Asian country)
2. His course of study did not really align with his background and he did not properly explain the reason for choosing that program in his SOP.
3. The Masters program is higher than the PGC Certificate.
4. Personal assets ( no need going into much details). We all know how IRCC operates with this refusal reason. Having enough money is not really a guarantee.

What we did differently:
1. Requested for GCMS notes, analyzed the refusal reasons and how to tackle them.
2. Changed course of study to a more related course. Though we still maintained a PGC
3. Had his sponsor Deposit his living expenses in his account.
4. Wrote a well structured letter of explanation and statement of purpose highlighting how the course of study will impact him and his home country and the opportunities available in this field in Nigeria.
5. Attached landed documents.
6. Added a co-sponsor for elaborate demonstration of proof of funds.
7. Prayed fervently.

Note: We still went ahead with the application despite him not being done with the Masters still. Although, it was properly explained in the LOE.(for once strong head don good).

*Application Submitted: November 5th, 2021
*Submission Confirmation: November 6th
*Medical Request: 21st January, 2022
*Medicals done: 2nd February
*Updated to pass: 4th February
*Eligibility review: I really don’t know when it started. It is still showing we are reviewing whether you meet the requirements.
*PPR and Correspondence Letter : 9th February, 2022.

Many people don't understand the impact. They just want to japa. I know an international student currently struggling on what to do next. He came September 2021 for a one year program. On arrival, he found out that the program will end May 2022 because there is no break in between. He doesn't know what to do next or how he will be able to pay the next program year if he can't work summer and has to do another course in September.

People should save themselves this kind of stress and go for atleast 1.5 years program. Two year programs (starting in winter) are the best if you plan to work summers. It will get you two summer breaks that you can work full time. Make sure to confirm the program goes on break during summer period.

Let me add the attached to support your statement. A case that was taken to federal court and that what was the DOJs take on the case. People need to understand it's not rosy at all and you need to plan things ahead even before entering canada if you want things to be easy for you.
