The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has said that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is in the position to pay damages to affected Nigerians. grin

The Secretary of IPMAN, Mr. Ismail Osatuyi, stated this Thursday, when he appeared on ARISE TV.

He said Nigerians affected by the adulterated fuel have the right to sue NNPC being the sole importer of fuel in the country and should be responsible for the payment of damages.

DAILY POST recalls that the presence of methanol in four petrol cargoes imported into the country from Antwerp in Belgium has not only disrupted the country’s fuel supply chain, the product has also led to the damage of several cars.

Osatuyi said: “The buyers – Nigerians that had their vehicles spoiled have the right to take legal action. And we have told our members that we have to know who were affected, which stations, which companies. So that we can also pass the information to the government, because since we are not responsible for the importation, then, there must be restitution and that is the fact. And the government has to come in this time around for them to mitigate whatever damage they have done to Nigerians’ vehicles and individuals.”

Osatuyi was of the opinion that if the country’s four refineries were working, such a problem wouldn’t have occured in the first place.

When asked if he was confident that NNPC would reimburse IPMAN members in any way or bear the cost, Osatuyi said the government agency has no choice but to compensate them, else, the association would take legal action.

According to him, “They have no choice this time around. These are facts and figures. It is only when we engage them in discussion and say these are the figures, these are the facts, and they are trying to be funny, then we can now look at what we can do within the ambit of the law.”

I don't understand this your remark. IPMAN member that do not import pms should be on the run ? For what reason?

Please read the report. In my opinion, he is making absolute sense.
Something has gone wrong somewhere but the ipman guys are the small players ,not the major players, that will feel the impact more.

The same man you're canvassing and begging for votes for on here brought in this failure in 2015.

By the way, hope you also bought the adulterated fuel?.

I'm seriously not believing it that nobody, I mean absolutely nobody has been fired or relieved of his position amidst all these saga. But then, I remembered that our dear ineffectual, the highly rated indefatigable tribal bigot in the person of Bubu is our Minister of Petroleum.

It's well

Anything they touch will surely go bad.

They have told you that government has no business in business but you won't listen.

4 refineries they can't manage

To import petrol they did as expected again. Greed.

We are now waiting for dangote uncompleted refinery.

Modular refinery they are not serious about it.

You have crude oil and you're importing petrol from Belgium not up to the population of your state.

I insists we have too many old ideas and greedy souls in government. Too many of them analog foe the current digital world economy. Selfish and wicked set of people

Last year NNAMDI KANU was saying on AIR that Nigerians don't know their government brings in lowest quality of refined petrol, gas and kerosene into the country and then clain they used huge amount of money to refined them.... He went on to say IF YOU NIGERIANS THAT STUDIED PETROL CHEMICAL ENGENEERING KNOWS WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DID IN SCHOOL BRING OUT THE PETROL YOUR GOVERNMENT IMPORTED INTO THE COUNTRY AND BRING OUT THE ONES LOCALS REFINED AND YOU WILL MARVEL OF WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO FIND OUT. YOUR GOVERNMENTS KNOWS THEY CAN EQUIP THOSE LOCALS FOR MASS REFINING BECAUSE THEY DO IT BETTER BUT THEY PREFER TAKING WHAT YOU HAVE AT YOUR BACKYARD OUTSIDE AND BRING BRING IT BACK IN BAD SHAPE AND SELL IT TO YOU.

NIGERIANS DON'T DESERVE PEOPLE LIKE MNK

Why is the FG trying to dodge its responsibility?

It has always said it, through NNPC, was sole importer of PMS into nigeria, so why is it now trying to shift blames when the sh1t has hit the fan & it has been exposed for the lies?

Even if MRS & others imported the fuel on NNPC's behalf, there is a government regulatory agency that should have checked the product to certify it before it was discharged from the vessel... who were those on duty then?

Must we import everything? For these donkey years we can't have our "working" refinery at least the one that will be serving only Nigerians, how do we get here?

Only foreigners will believe this story, maybe a foreigner that comes from UK, US or country with a working system. Nigerians know that no compensation will come from neither IPMAN nor NNPC because no one cares about us.

Free advice to all motor users, but petrol where they sell into jerrican this will help you to see the clarity level of the product. Do not allow the government to add to the existing wahala
