wisdom042:They're seizing it because many Nigerians now abuse it by using it to get "high'' due to its euphoric effect since it is an opioid. If Nigeria had a coordinated system that ensures strict regulation of drugs distribution, wholesale and retails, there wouldn't have been any need to outrightly ban such drugs as codeine, tramadol and others. This is because strict regulation would ensure that these drugs are sold only by registered pharmacies and only upon prescription by a medical doctor, dentist or other qualified prescribers. That way, there would be accountability as pharmacists are trained on how to track such drugs and keep proper records of their use. But in Nigeria, people sell drugs just for profit making while many are unconcerned about the impact of drugs on public health. It's just about profit and that's bad!!! 1 Like |

panpan:The above comment shows that you're not up to date on events concerning drugs regulation in Nigeria. Codeine, tramadol and other opioids are currently banned in Nigeria. |
