You're being petty again as usual...The same attitude you displayed when people were voicing concern over Okoye before the AFCON... After his famous blunder, you lost your voice...
It's only in your head that people hate foreign borns...

Based on current form, Lookman isn't better than Chukwueze... Chuks has scored in the laliga, champions league and Copa de Rey this season.. 6 goals and one assist in total compared to Lookman's 5 goals and 1 assists despite playing fewer games...

Let's see Lookman in action in the GWG first before we conclude that he is better than our current wingers..... Okoye is playing in a top league but is delivering a disasterclass every matchday for the super eagles

Half of Chuks’ goals came against 3rd tier teams you can’t even pronounce in the Copa del Rey. Chuks’ end product has always been miserable, we are just the ones who have been overlooking.

He wasn’t as poor as some of you guys are saying. Even so, his replacement must be superior to him or the same level not inferior. Let amoo prove himself at the big 3 leagues before he can think of benching a big 3 player. I think “YouTube” deceives some of you cabu cabu analyst

It’s not all about amoo benching chukwueze

The best player should start ,and chukwueze is surely better than amoo

Chuks was poor at the afcon ,maybe na back of tv you watch your own afcon

He was so poor that most of our attacks went through Simon's wing..

so all the opposition has to do is close down Simon's wing since they know Chuks wing is toothless with Chuks playing there and he wasn't tracking back.

He created one for sadiq (clear cut) another corner kick clear cut to (iheanacho) and another crossing clear cut. If those 3 chances was into the hands of lewandoski, it’s 3 goals for us. The issue with nwakali is that we don’t have another like for like player at SE and we don’t have the luxury of omitting players with his skill set. Some people are mentioning onyedika, Frank d tank etc just remember that selecting 3 dm in a game will just devoid your midfield of any creativity

3 DMs? Is Frank a DM at Brentford? Is Aribo a DM?

Like it or not, our best midfield trio currently is Ndidi - Onyeka - Aribo, each playing slightly ahead of the previous. We can’t start with such a midfield and get overrun in the center, and all three offer decent creativity, football intelligence, and excellent work rate.

Similarly, our best front 3 is Simon - Osimhen - Dennis with Lookman/Chuks/Ejuke for wing cover and Awoniyi/Onuachu/Sadiq for CF cover.

I think I will like to come in here. When we talk about deep-lying playmaker, to the best of my knowledge, it has to do with the role than the position.

I will list some players in this era who I consider ideal deep-lying playmakers.

Granit Xhaka
Thiago Alcantara
Jorginho

The thing about these players has to do with their natural style. Even when they venture forward, they still play in a particular manner. They like the short passing game.

One thing about them is that they like to operate from deep. They are comfortable playing for a long time close to the defenders and like to build attacks from the back with their passes.

So when these guys write Aribo as a deep-lying playmaker, I wonder if they are referring to him operating in that manner. That is sitting deep and using passes to dictate play.

I might be wrong because I have not watched much of Aribo but in the few I saw, he is not the player that likes to sit and play deep for a long time. Offensive play is a big part of his game.

I will like others to add. Do you see Aribo as a player that plays like Xhaka or Jorginho?

Aribo style of play is a far cry from what is described as deep-lying playmaking.

Pirlo, Xabi Alonso are good examples of DLPs.

I hurriedly made a write-up on DLP from the little i gleaned from Wikipedia and Quora.
I will drop it soon.

4-4-2 is the issue.

Why is it the issue.
It is the issue because of an obvious lack of the requisite personnel.

You will spot this clearly after my reply to TheGoodJoe's requests for additions on the definition of a DLP.
Bruv, you just explained what I meant by "style and discipline"

Here is what I was passing across, 4-4-2 of itself is not a bad formation

Deep-lying playmaking.

Who is a deep-lying-playmaker.
A deep-lying playmaker is a holding midfielder who specializes in ball skills such as passing, rather than defensive skills like tackling. -Wikipedia.

What are the roles of a deep-lying playmaker.
Their role is to sit in between the defense and attack, starting attacks by spraying passes in all directions. They dictate play from a rather withdrawn position when compared to modern-day number 10s .Ball retention and defensive concerns aren't major responsibilities of a deep-lying playmaker, their job is to collect the ball from defense, create space, find the players in good positions/making good runs and to make sure the ball reaches them with pin point accuracy.

What positions do deep-lying playmakers occupy on the field of play.
In 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1, They occupy one of the central roles in the midfield 4, they pair the defensive midfielder in 4-2-3-1, 3-4-3, 3-5-2. They also have roles in 4-3-3 depending on the coach's philosophy and style of play.

What skillsets do deep-lying playmakers possess.
Vision, creativity, technique.

How do you identify a deep-lying playmaker.
They make a high number of short passes while attempting to find space and openings to dispatch the ball forward.
Their passing accuracy is at insanely high levels.
They calm the play down and make a team tick by sending players off in right directions and getting them past pockets of space behind opposition midfielders.
You can identify them by the long passes they make to wingers and sometimes to center forwards.
Their primary concerns is in making pre-assists, that is making the pass before the final pass, They also make assists.

Wikipedia and Quora mirrored my stance and stand on the concept of a deep-lying playmaker. I lifted many paragraphs verbatim from Quora, only the first paragraph is from Wikipedia

The system did not play to his strengths.

You're misunderstanding his English. I know you wanted him to say "my country". But he's right with his words. Often you hear people say, "for the team" rather than "for my team". It's because they're trying to be humble and present themselves as just part of a bigger project.

Using the word "my" has an egoistic feel to it, even though it sounds more patriotic. It makes it sound like you're so important that the entire team depends on you.

Bayern getting whooped by Bochum.
I gotta say I expected this...They are playing without a natural midfielder.
How some coaches underrate the importance of Midfield is beyond my understanding.

This reflects the mindset of most of these Anglo-Nigerian players.

Their first love would always be England.

Don't be surprised to hear him sing "God save the queen" when he is with the Eagles.

On a serious note, I think he adds depth to our flanks.

I think he goofed though. The could have constructed it differently without necessarily using "my", he could have simply used Nigeria. The use of "the" though understandable as he was raised British will definitely be misconstrued.

Van de Beek is really anonymous. I really think his move from Ajax came to early.

Nothing is guaranteed.. We all saw how Akpogunma case turned out..Ejuke was tipped for big things back then, and now some people won't mind dropping him from the team.. Awoniyi had a stellar campaign in the budensliga, but there are some who believe he failed at the AFCON..What about Sadiq?
You definitely know what I'm talking about..

Until we see Lookman play for the super eagles, it's premature to conclude that he is better than our current corp of wingers...
