Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has stated that the new Olubadan of Ibadan land will be announced on Monday.

Makinde announced this on Saturday. (DKV.ng Reports)

He addressed at the 40-day funeral reception for Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, the immediate past Olubadan of Ibadan land.

Among those in attendance were the state's Deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, former Governor of the state, Senator Rasidi Ladoja, and Senator representing Oyo South, Dr. Kola Balogun.

According to our source, Oba Adetunji will join his ancestors on Sunday, January 2, 2022.

Since then, the position of Olubadan has been vacant.

Makinde, on the other hand, has stated that the new Olubadan will be announced on Monday after receiving a letter from the Olubadan-in-Council.

He stated that the traditional system of Ibadan is a model for other towns, villages, and cities in the country to follow because of its democratic nature.

"I received a letter from Olubadan-in-Council.

"By God's grace, I will appoint the new Olubadan of Ibadan land on Monday."

"Today, while we organize the 40-day memory of the immediate past Olubadan, we already know who the next king will be."

"Ibadan is not like other towns where it takes more than seven years to have a king following the death of one."

"The traditional system of Ibadan is one that everyone aspires to replicate."
