I'm not sure you can use your mum as a dependant. In fact you will need to send your marriage certificate to confirm your spouse is indeed your partner. I will suggest you take your kids and apply for visiting visa for her later.

And 8 and 7 are not too young too. They will go to school too.

You will need to send it to the school. You will take it along to the embassy too, though there is a high chance it would not be asked. I know someone who have tried it before and the mother and baby were denied. But there is no harm trying, you might be lucky.

I think only immediate family can be added as dependants. That's spouse (s) and children. Extended families can not be added. There should be more explanation on this on each visa categories on the US website. B1/B2 for mum and dad, F2 for spouse and children.

Okay, let me help you understand some things here. Mum is not a dependant, only your own family (spouse and children/child) can be your dependant. So two things, 3 actually
1. You apply for F1 and your husband and kids apply for F2 with you. They can travel with you or not, it's not necessary.

3. You apply with your kids, F1 and F2 and mum apply for B1/B2 (with or without you)

The kids have passed Daycare or learning center stage, their age should be elementary school or so. The Good thing is, they can actually enroll in an elementary school (if they come with you) while you also do your school.

My advice, apply with them, let them come when mum gets her visa so that the stress will not be too much.

I don’t really get this. But if I understand, the F1 want to show his own proof of fund; and also the F2 also wants to show hers SEPARATELY?

I thought it’s the F1 that would should that to the school before he’s being issued i20, and it would reflect on the i20 that he’s coming with someone that he would ‘take care’ of. Without the F1 showing adequate funds for both i20 won’t be given out.

If you also want her to be part of the sponsor, submit her details to the school, so that her name would reflect on the i20, with that the VO would easily see that it’s dual sponsorship which it’s NOT bad (base on its F1 and F2).

Please, a friend is unable to get his visa renewed through Dropbox feature. Anytime he gets to where he needs to validate his visa fee, it tell him no appointments available and if he clicks continue it goes back to the beginning.
