After referee Christopher Beath reversed his decision having consulted the pitch side monitor, Azpilicueta picked up the ball and placed it on the spot.

The Spain international was duly surrounded by opposition players who attempted to put him off his stride, while the actual taker, Havertz, was ignored and given space to compose himself.

When the Germany international eventually stepped forward he kept his composure and sent the opposition goalkeeper the wrong way to clinch victory and help Chelsea become only the fifth team in history win every major available club prize.

Asked why he grabbed hold of the ball, Azpilicueta said: ‘I knew what they were like.’

Captain reliable playing the leader's role by taking the pressure off Havertz. You gotta love this guy.

It is obvious that you don't rate the coach so you will look for every reason to vilify him. As for PK being awoof it's a lie that's often repeated because it has a lot to do with psychology. As a taker is facing goalkeeper directly he's to decide where to place it without the goalkeeper saving it this requires a nerve and quick decision making if a player failed to do this within the shortest possible time he will miss more than he will score, this is why you see players shying away from PK duties because it's not for the mentally weak. Had PK being awoof Chelsea would have had 3UCL trophies in their cabinet.

So if Havertz wasn't on the pitch, we wouldn't have scored the PK, right?

Havertz was rubbish throughout the game and another good PK taker would have scored it. So, you have no point, it was a senseless gamble by the coach as even Lukaku or any player could have scored it.

Penalty is not for just any player. That is why teams have players given that duty. In Chelsea, its Jorginho, Lukaku, Havertz and, I think, Werner.

Mentally weak players can't take penalties. Especially in this particular situation. Almost 120mins, tired legs, tired brain, in front of intimidating opposing fans.... Give praise when due. Dude is just 22!

And that bolded is just laughable. Why do you call the decision of Havertz taking the PK a "senseless gamble"? He is Chelsea's number 3 PK taker, and number one on the pitch that moment. What made it senseless, and a gamble? Do you train with the group to know who are the best PK takers?

As much as I use to like Hazard, drogba, Fabregas and recently Thiago Silva, they were some days I have had to say one or two negatives about them but you see this nigga here,I doubt if I have ever criticised him before.

You didn't criticize him when he yanked Auba down during our recent FA cup final against Arsenal? To me, he cost us that match.

Obviously you didn't follow our argument from the beginning.

It was a senseless gamble by Tuchel, leaving a player playing rubbish all day for 120 mins. Scoring that PK didn't justify anything. Our attack was in comatoze led by Havertz, immediately Lukaku left.

This is super impressive. It’s a solid record. You don’t have 3 goals and assists in 3 continental and world finals by chance at 22. It’s a testament to your abilities as a big game player. Havertz10 bragging rights is clearly justified.

The main reason why Lukaku was subbed off was tiredness which will affect the team shape. Penalty is not a child's play and don't tell me that Lukaku would've scored it because the last time he was given a PK against Bayern he missed it during a final.

If you watch football without bias, you would notice that Rudiger has improved and his monstrous energy and pace keeps our defence afloat. I often lose count of how many recovery runs that guy makes in a game.

This is preposterous. Firstly, Lukaku didn’t play any penalty so you can’t be too sure he would have scored…players miss penalties.

Secondly, you’re not smarter than the gaffer. Coaches who win trophies, usually do so by looking at important metrics and always maintain what they deem as the winning “model” which includes systems and players. E.g, Kepa had been having a great tournament but Mendy just got back from Africa with a trophy and has been in goal in ALL the competitions we won trophies. He will simply start him over Kepa. Havertz has been involved in 2 finals with 2 goals and assists, no coach would haul him out for the sake of hauling him out…Guess what, Havertz got us the winning goal which justifies his being left in the game.

Every other point you’re making are just afterthoughts of “if” and “maybe” which cannot trump facts and certainties.

So a player of 10yrs ago is the same player of today, right?.

Well, Havertz missed his PK against Villareal in the Super cup final, last year. So?

You are a terrible soccer analyst.

I thought the senseless gamble you meant is Havertz taking the penalty. My bad. I get what you mean now.

Havertz might not be spectacular in the game but he certainly wasn't the poorest player in the pitch. We lacked creativity as a team, it's not a Havertz thing only. But because Havertz have this reputation here, everybody will naturally attack him.

Kante had a stinker of a game yesterday, but because he is loved by everyone, no one talks about it. Go watch the game again, the number of times Kante lost possession or made a wrong pass in the midfield is uncountable. Of all the posts you quoted, it's only one person that mentioned Kante.

Havertz reputation will always precede him here. So the attacks is not surprising.

And Lukaku is not immune to missing PK so you can't say for sure that he will score. You are just speculating. Same way I can tell you that Lukaku, in that situation, will miss. All speculation. Fact: Lukaku cost us Super League against Bayern in 2013. So leave that talk of Lukaku would have scored it.

We see players literally shying away from moments like this. Havertz stepped up and won the game for us. Take it or leave it, that moment defined the game and Havertz stepped up and delivered. Give him props for that.

On a side note, come out let's talk about this guy...

Never seen so much ado about a penalty before.

Big game player that stunk so many games, he lost his first team shirt for good?

Must be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Mario Gotze type of big game player sha.
