Nigeria is the second country in Africa that comes close to that with just 9000. While 41000 is marvellous by African Standards (and even most of the world), it is not special by European standards because even countries like Poland have way more than that. Also most of European manufacturing at the basic level are indigenous.

The other African countries (including Egypt) have way less formal industries than South Africa, but they make up for this with much more informal industries. South Africa on the other hand is very European in system but do not have enough of what the average western European countries have to balance things out because the foreign firms totally outweighs the indigenous firms, and we know foreign firms are usually just branches, the bulk of the wealth benefits the headquarters and individuals with the highest shares.

They wouldn't have wrote it like that, if it was in this case. Stop comparing it with jamb. Because if I wrote an exam that the cut off mark is 180 and I got 200, and I was not admitted, it means there were other criteria that i did not met. But that does not mean that I failed the Jamb exam.
