So my brother got a job of 70k in ikorodu Lagos state and he's currently working as a teacher in a private school in Ekiti state.

The Job in Lagos came with no accommodation but he can still get somewhere to stay for a month or two.

What advise can you give him please?
He's bothered.

He already knows the one he wants.

Banking ? Well,banking is fun.In case he want to relocate to Lagos from EKITI.Tell him to alight @ojota and look for peepz that sell Aba made shoes (dat is if his duty involve waka waka around to open Account)he need such durable shoes .If it's cashier/Note counter,he can buy palm sander.Wish him well

His role is Marketing associate.

In Lagos,70k can't take u home.This is 2022 NOT 1999

Many people earn lower than 70k in Lagos and are good. Depends on spending habit.


Cost of rent in Ikorodu is a bit cheaper so there is that.

There are cheap houses in Ikorodu also, but the place is crowded and over populated.

He's a man, atleast he can save something from the 70k compare to what he earn in ekiti...

My brother dear, I know u are the one pretending to be asking for another, it's all about you so choose wisely. The baking job gives u a nice opportunity to become your own boss with time, when u shall have mastered the job. The teaching job is not bad too. It can keep you intellectually awake to go further. So you see, it's all about you and what you see yourself doing later. Forget the money aspect biko.

Avoid both.

There is so much money online.

Ok... Let him go for the one he wants while he looks for a better offer than both

As a homeboy, I will accept the 30K teaching job in Ekiti, especially in a rural or semi urban area.
Because the teaching job lasts between 8:00am and 2:00pm .
In some days you may not even stay up to 2:00pm.
So I will use the remaining hours to run a shop/stalls that deals in provisions/articles .
Also in the teaching work, I have the holiday all to myself.
I will also venture into subsistence Agriculture, where I will only purchase some pieces of land and hire labourers to cultivate my own yam, rice, cassava, Cocoyam, vegetables and even sell some part of my farm produce to buy soup ingredients like dried fish, goat meat, egusi ogbono, red oil, etc.

The cons of that banking job are: You will spend more than half of that your banking salary on food in the work place.
Because you may literally won't have time to cook.
You will likely spend some of the money in the laundry store.
You will be expected to live in a high brow or posh areas u know.
You will literally be a slave as you will have no time for your self.
The choice is yours after all.

ikorodu standard of living and Ado ekiti are almost the same, I've lived in the two for years


he can get a room self con of 70-80k per annum at ikorodu and Ado ekiti house rent is almost of that range if not more than that presently



70k job at ikorodu will link him up and make him see more opportunity than Ekiti in private sch that won't even allow him have time for himself not talk of not getting opportunity and link up



everything for Ekiti na politics, if he know what's best for him, ikorodu 70k banking Job should be his best choice

There is apartment 5k per month room self dm

Teaching is more or less like a slavery job.
No time to seek for better opportunity.

You will always be occupied with lesson or lesson note when you should be out there looking for better opportunity.

Its a 9years wasted experience I ever had.


Go for the banking job....

Get two note books. One for financial cost analysis & the other one to define which of the offers will complement or lead you to your career path.

I can't believe this is happening in Nigeria. This money too small.

It is what it is. Private school teachers get even for lower. Sadly the people that are suffering it the most are still the same people supporting & voting in old expired leaders who stole their destinies and will keep looting the country irrespective of political parties, religion or tribe.

Ekiti is his best option if he is enterprising and has a side hustle

Job security
Time for side hustle
Cheap standard of living

Ikorodu is good for him if he intends to keep on job hunting in Lagos for better opportunities

You can get a room in ikorodu for 50 to 70k per annum. You can get a self contain for 80 to 100

70k job is better

Suffer they this country o. See option.

stay in lagos...u get more connection or job opening info when you are working.

If you go to ekiti, you have isolated yourself.

Una don start again with una weird job options. 50k jenitor in Dangote group or 200k Keke driver in Zamfara state.

Live humble, You gotta take a step back so you can take 10 steps forward. Add 5yrs to your age and you are still a young man
