ritsy02:It is not an issue. 5 months before it expires, apply for passport renewal in the nearest Nigerian embassy in USA. Go get that visa and move to US for your study. 6 Likes 1 Share |

ademeecee: Your PPA (company’s name) is what you’re meant to fill. That’s ‘a work’. Nothing concern VOs with “PPA” they only know about NYSC sha (as they do hear it). So, In short you’re working with “ABC COMPANY”. Goodluck! 4 Likes 1 Share |

paschal808: As long as you can state clearly why the politician is sponsoring you, you are good but it's better if your mum is your sponsor. |

paschal808:Firstly, is the politician, your boss, the owner of the company? If yes, then you can state that your employer is your sponsor and that's fine. If No, then I suggest you use your parent. However, If your parent will be sponsoring you, you should be ready to prove that he/she has a job or business that generates such an amount you are transferring to their account. One of the important questions at the embassy is what does your sponsor do? This is just to know if the kind of job or business you stated could generate such an amount of money. If the VO detects any discrepancy you stand a chance to be denied. Best of Luck. 1 Like |

Opemz: This is difficult to say, but I will anyway. With your profile, you deserve more than just a meal ticket and a place to stay. You are deserving of an assistantship, which usually includes a full tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. All of this is already a low-paying offer (as a PhD student). Accepting this implies settling for less. If I were you, I would reapply to a better institution that is serious about business and recognizes my value. 33 publications no be beans. Meal ticket ke? For Phd Student. Are they wyning you. Lol. Please, if you’re not in rush to go to USA, shoot more applications to better school even if it’s for Spring 2023. With your profile and prospective program, you deserve nothing less than a Fully Funded ride. Check out for GOOD RICH SCHOOL they need YOU, Biko. Good day everyone, great work you guys are doing here. We shall actualize our dreams and aspirations by God's Grace. Please I have few questions I want to ask and hopefully I can get answers to them. 1. I applied to just one school (University of Illinois, Springfield) and I was given admission (previously applied for Masters Public Health in same school but didn't get it but I reapplied for Masters Business Administration with Certificate in Healthcare Management and was given admission for Fall2022 though conditional), I hope applying to just one school won't reduce my chances? I have submitted my GA/GPSI and Scholarship application, currently waiting for the results. 2. My sponsor (My Uncle with same surname is a citizen and Nurse in the US), I hope this is good? Though all my siblings are in Nigeria as regards family ties? 2 Likes |

I need help concerning letter of recommendation? It is necessary a lecturer/prof from my school writes it? Can a lecturer/prof from another school help me with it and hope it reduce my chance of getting admission/funding. |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Moshkom(m): 2:12pm On Feb 16, 2022 |
zigleary: 1. It won’t reduce your chances. But you can better just apply to another school(s), don’t forget the one you’ve at hand is even CONDITIONAL. You can easily tell a VO you applied to 2 or 3, there’s no way to can confirm that info if not from you and the way you answer it. 2. KINDLY remove them from the picture. It’s never seems to be an added advantage to have ‘them’ there in this path. Yeah, find someone else to be your sponsor in 9ja. Good luck champ! 3 Likes |

Daviduch19: If I could make a few quick observations here: It looks normal in Nigeria for a brother to sponsor a sibling abroad for a graduate study, but it's not normal in the US. It attracts curiosity. You have a full time job and income with a family and responsibilities to take care of. On the interviewer's mind, why go for a graduate program if you haven't saved enough money to sponsor yourself? Why is your brother shouldering your responsibility? In most cases, only parents do that for their children if the children can't afford it for themselves. Remember, it's a graduate program, not a bachelor's degree which is more essential. Let's assume that your brother earns N 2 million naira a month and can afford to gift you half of his salary (N 1 million naira) every month from the graciousness of his heart, it's still only $2,000 which may cover just a little more than your monthly rent for a 2 bedroom apartment in the US. Usually, people work and save for a few years before going for a graduate program, or they take a student loan. In this case, there was no indication that your brother loaned you the money. As a student you're limited to 20 hours of work a week or so, and let's assume your wife has to work full time to augment or provide for the family while you're schooling, who takes care of the baby while you're both out of the house? Can you afford day care with your combined income? Nannies are expensive in the US, it's not like in Nigeria where one can easily afford them. On the interviewer's mind, if you are the major provider for your family and you're in school, how will you provide for your family especially since you're not sponsoring yourself? In reality, this is a big move for someone to be making when they have responsibilities. All these added to the high immigration rate from Nigeria are probable causes for the denial. The travel history doesn't appear to be a major factor of consideration especially for student visa applications. It could be more of a factor used for tracking crimes (e.g. drug related) because criminal organizations recruit people to pose as travelers in various forms. When they asked your wife where she traveled and what she did, they input this data into the system and some artificial intelligence software will analyze the data and that's one way some people can get flagged for further search at the port of entry. I don't think your travel history counted against you for the student visa application. 17 Likes 3 Shares |
