The number of hausas, yorubas, Cameroonians and Togo people etc in Owerri alone is mind boggling. Ask building contractors and pop people how far? There are probably as many Hausas in the East now as there are Igbos in the North. While Igbos are no longer moving to the North to live like they used to in the past, Northerners on the other hand are now moving down East in large numbers. And I'm not talking about fruit sellers, gate men and shoe menders but faily rich ones. I have several of them as clients. One recently brought his wife down here and she doesn't understand any word in English. I usually see others in banks too making transactions. A Hausa woman who is my client too saw me in my car in traffic and was greeting me and I responded respectfully too. One thing I like about the ones here in the East is their easy going nature and friendliness which makes me wonder why we don't get along nationally.

Every community in Igboland has people from all over africa. In my immediate place behind and infront of my house, we have 3 people from benin that came to do construction work, 1 togolese tailor, 1 cameroonian tailor and an uncountable number of northerners. And this is a rural area. Igbos and northerners live with each other and interact more than Igbo and Yoruba but because Yoruba and Igbo people are loud on the internet you won't know.
