South Australia finally opens up to alot of occupations, mine inclusive.
They require atleast 8years work experience, from my skill assessment, VETASSESS put me at 6years work experience.

I guess you are aiming just that 190 visa.

I've been writing this exam and I am just tired. Last year I spent 80k, that same last year I spent another 70k. This year somebody is telling me again to spend another 75k.

And my Friend has already written this thing since, he has already passed it. I've been begging him to give me how he did it, he refused to give it to me. And then, I just came to his room and I saw what he did.

I've even gone through the program and I'm so annoyed that he didn't share this thing with me. He was telling me that it goes for 25 thousand naira. I don't know whether I was just being stupid for not buying it for 25k. I have wasted almost 200k instead of buying something for 25k and save so much time and money.

I would have passed this IELTS since rather than wasting money here and there.

So I want to migrate to Australia and I want your advice. I have done a lot of research and still doing to know the best route to take.
I am 36 and have a Bsc in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in well engineering. I have worked for about 10 years now in the oil and gas industry. I am married with a child and another on the way. My wife has school cert and have been doing business, although she is interested in nursing, she is currently 26yrs old.

I look up my eligibility and discovered that the best I can ever get in 189 is 85 which is quite low considering the previous selection round in mechanical engineering.

What do you advice, I am willing to come to Aussi for an Msc or a trade course to boost my chances. Many thanks.

I am looking at doing a trade qualification from an Australian educational institution in a regional area to claim point for Australian study (5) and Study in regional Australia (5). The trade course is a CRICOS registered course. In total this will boost my score from originally 85 to 95. Although this will take around 2 years +. Dont know if there are any loop holes in that plan, I will appreciate advice from the experienced members here. Thank you.

The possibility of a positive assessment is 50-50 since you have up to 2 years experience and your qualification is unrelated.
You may be better of waiting till you have 3 years experience and all will be deducted but no one knows how many years exactly will be deducted.

Don't just waste any resources on any appeal because it can't go through here. The reason for the negative outcome is clear; the Bsc qualification. This AQF level is something that have been over emphasized here that I don't know how you could have missed that. That Occupation needs a Bsc , and yours gotten from UNN (4yrs course) doesn't qualify as Bsc in Australia. You should only be looking at for a level 2 occupation, that's one needing an associate degree cos that's what your Bsc from UNN is recognised as.

The offshore conditions for SA are really crazy! for example I have an assessment as telecoms network engineer with 85 points(10yrs experience and proficiency plus English) but the point required is 90 .now I can see there is telecom network planner with required point of 65 and IELTS of proficiency plus which fortunately I have.my questions are;

1. can I apply using telecom network planner role?

2. what is really the definition of closely related occupation? AZSCO code or if the occupation is assessed by same body? please note below from SA site

Occupations with the same Skills Assessing Authority are closely related occupations

1. You can give it a go. It’s a pre-invite. If they don’t consider it, you won’t get a pre-invite.
2. Closely related is more of the Anzsco code and assessing authority 2633

There are a lot of restaurant manager especially from the Asian countries.
The states will decide if you stand a chance. Apply to SA ROI. It’s open for your occupation if you have 8 years approved by Vetassess.

189 is far reaching. You should be considering 190 & 491. Most states are now giving only 491 to offshore applicants.
It’s likely impossible you got 85 points with the details you provided here. Can you provide a breakdown of your points?
Mechanical engineer is a competitive occupation. Most engineers have gone with trade occupations like fitter.
What you need to do is to first identify the occupation(s) you can assess.

Since Covid came, nothing is predictable. I can tell you it will change but it may not. There is also a possibility that some states may be lenient with the experience than others

Not really. You can go for 491 family sponsored only if your sibling lives in a regional area but you need a positive assessment and English score. That gives you additional 15 points.

My hubby just came into the country this February 2022 for the first time due to border closure. The course I studied requires me to work for one year in my field before I can apply for assessment, however, my hubby has a positive assessment for ICT customer support officer with 10years experience.

I researched and found out that ACT and SA both have his course in their skilled nomination list but with clauses.
ACT requires us to both live in Canberra for 6months before we can apply . While , SA wants him to work in his field or closely nominated field in SA for onshore applicant.

I will like to enquire, Can he apply as offshore applicant for his nominated field in SA even tho he is onshore? As he met the criteria compared to the onshore application that they expect him to be working in his field .

You can if you can align the job descriptions/duties to that level 2 occupation, and also have documents to back it up, primarily, Job reference letter stating those. For a clearer review, I will advice you provide here the details of the education and job duties

Ifit's not up to 2 weeks, quickly apply for remarking for your writing. You should get 7.

You'll need atleast 7 in each to have a good point with Australia.

No, 80 is not enough for 189. You need to aim more than that. Do you have any experience?

No, he cannot apply as offshore as he is onshore already. Your options will be to move to SA, get a job and get nomination or your partner goes back offshore and wait till he gets nominated, apply for visa then travel back.
