mostob: True. My problem with Ighalo is he doesn't necessarily stand out in anything. Onuachu is a better target man, Osimhen is faster, Dennis (although a winger) is more dynamic, Sadiq has better dribbling and link up play, Nacho has better passing and shooting. He doesn't add anything special, he is old and not as fit as what we have, so why bring him in? 1 Like |

Osimhen needs to learn intelligent play if he wants to achieve his full potential. Football is not only pace, muscle and gra-gra. Know when to pass, when to stop and bring others into play, when and how to slip through passes (which I have never seen him do), etc. Imagine a 70 million striker struggling with offsides at this level, it is frankly embarassing tbh. I hope he keeps on working on himself and he knows he is not the finished product yet. 5 Likes |

drDoom3: Having strikers with different profiles is very important because you always have a weapon no matter how the opposition play. If the opposition is good and keeps possession just throw in Osimhen and Dennis and you will make them bleed on the counter. If they decide to play a low block send in Onuachu and cross or send in Nacho as a false 9 and have him drop deep to shoot. For teams who do neither use Sadiq or Awoniyi's technicality to link up play and create chances. 2 Likes |

drDoom3:I agree... His pace and aggressiveness should be a bonus for him. His primary focus should be positioning, shooting accuracy, heading and so on. He will be able to avoid all those weird injuries. |

mostob: The irony is that he was better at all those when he was in Lille. Ligue 1 is a very physical league, so having muscle and pace alone does not suffice. He had to learn finishing, positioning, and link up to succeed at Lille. Victor rarely missed one-on-ones at Lille, he was very efficient in his shooting especially at the beginning of the season. Apparently, Serie A is not as physical, coincidentally, Victor was also adding muscle. It seems he started overrelying on physical dominance to oust opponents and his development in other areas regressed to an extent. For games against smaller clubs where you don't need to be prime Ronaldo technically to succeed, he was performing as expected. However, against bigger teams where strength is not enough and things like positioning and tactical awareness come into play, he seems to struggle. I would argue he should probably have stayed one more season at Lille to hone his tactical abilities before making the big money move. 2 Likes |

13large: The best course of action is to have Simon start with Lookman slowly easing into the team. On the right, Dennis should start over Chuks. Have Ejuke on the bench to deputize. |

drDoom3: You can’t claim that he was better at those qualities when it was at a farmers league. The more quality league that a player perform, shows his weakness or pros more clearer. This is why I am an advocate of super eagles players, playing at a world class league in order to access their real value 1 Like |

While Pinnick and Eguavoen are jollying in London they should help out with Nwakali's club situation, I think Nwakali will be a pivotal member of the SE in the years to come 4 Likes |

I have seen Sadiq in the national team. And my verdict is he is our #2 man! Osimhen is still the man. All the things Victor is being criticised for lately is just as a result of his recent games. Victor is still far from his full potential yet. And you know what that means. eddie7: |

They should be busy strategizing as regards our immediate opposition. It should never be about one man especially one who has had ample time to make something out of his career. I am hoping Nwakali's situation get's better for once. Also, let's not forget the older Nwakali. Subzero47: |

Sadiq's best match for Nigeria at AFCON was the match against Tunisia which Nigeria unfortunately lost...and he was so good in that match because he was brought in at a time when we needed a goal so badly against a team which was already a goal ahead. Now let me break it down.. No right thinking fellow should use that single match to conclude that he's better than osimhen because osimhen would av done far better on the day, seeing that Nigeria was a goal down in d knockout round. For a team like Nigeria that did so well in d group stage, and then went a goal down in a round of 16 match, even if an amateur striker was brought in at that point, he would av played his heart out just like Sadiq did....its just pure psychology and not a big deal. So pls let's drop this crazy idea that Sadiq is better than osimhen abeg. N.B: pls no insults, be civil and mature with ur criticism. Thanks! |
