cuttingedge: I also agree that you should go together, book the interview together so you can be interviewed together by one VO, also add ur son for F2. The main thing I want to say to you is that daycare is not free in the US, while school is free from age 5, daycare is not free, so VO will ask you for your plans for childcare seeing as two of you will be studying. Don’t fumble on that question. Google for daycare centers near your school, infact as an added way of showing preparedness you can email them so that you can inform the VO that you plan to put the child in so so daycare and you are already in contact with them. You can also check if your school has, some schools have within the school but it is also not free, it usually depends on how many days you will be keeping the child and if it’s full day or half day, it would usually not be less than $800 per month depending on your schedule. The good thing is that two of you are F1 and will be collecting stipends but paying one house rent, you can still accommodate cost of childcare. Just needed to drop this info for you cos it may likely be asked 12 Likes 2 Shares |

I want to do my change my last name to my husband's name. The name on my passport and every other documents is my last name. Would this be a problem when applying for visa.( I will be applying for F1 while my husband and baby will be applying for F2) Will it be a problem if I should change my last name to my husband's last name? Please I'll appreciate any contributions from gurus in the house. Thank you oracle009: |

Amazingoreofe: Changing names will have no effect on the interview but it will sure delay everything else. So rock your last name with great pride. If this will help you get a settled mind, "Females Muslims are not entitled to use their husband's last name, they stick to their own father's name. But that doesn't mean we don't have female married Muslims applying for US visa with their husband using different last names" Best of luck 3 Likes |

Amazingoreofe:My personal opinion sis: my wife had an unexpired passport before we applied. I didn't want to take any chance at all. So, she did her change of name and applied for a new passport that reflects my last name. |

Iamhighbee70777: There is no way to go about it, you just have to keep waiting to here back from them. Yeah, there’s no actual day/date to be expecting a reply, it might be today; tomorrow; next month; next 2 months or ANYDAY. That’s EA for you; just keeping checking your email for their reply! Goodluck! 1 Like |

Hello my good people, Please, I need your help! My son has gotten admission into University of Maryland Baltimore County for fall 2022. First degree With 12k scholarship. I am in the process of sending documents to the school to get his I20 but now that getting interview dates is so difficult, my question now is do I wait to to get the I20 before scheduling interview date or I can pay the visa fee, schedule appointment while waiting for the I20? At what point do I need to pay the SEVIS fee? Is it required to schedule appointment? Please, any suggestions will highly be appreciated. I just want to do everything on time for him to have his interview before school resumes in fall. Also, we are frequent travelers and already paid Visa fee for visit visa since last year. Can he use the same receipt for F1 visa or he has to get another one? Thanks |

shakidude:Hello. 1. He needs to receive the form I-20 before any further actions can be taken. 2. SEVIS FEE is to be paid after receiving the I-20 from school. He can schedule appointment without paying for SEVIS, but he can't interview without making the payment. SEVIS must be paid 'latest' 3 Business days to the appointment date. 4 Likes 1 Share |

I just booked Interview Waiver for Monday 28th Feb. I'm flying in Sunday and hope to leave in 2 weeks. Anyone know how long it typically takes F-1 to get approved? Visa website says to expect 2 months, but I'm willing to take the risk if it usually happens in way less time. Thanks |
