charlesemeka85: You are just talking story. There is a point to it and you are not talking about the point. The point is simple. With dedication, teamwork, and passion, you can beat a top side with better talents. You can go far in the competition. This is not the 1996 analogy. It is a fact about football. It has happened over and over again in the past. It will keep happening tomorrow and in years to come. What is the use of tactically disciplined players if their minds are not with the team? 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:you are not the one to determine who is dedicated when invited if you are not the coach Ademola lookman once turned us down and kept us waiting for almost 4 years before switching to us does that mean he is not dedicated to the teams course? No one is forcing any player to switch to us and before any will make up their mind to play for us their mind must hv been made up for the task ahead and whatever it entails to rep us If u like gather 23 dedicated carpenters who lacks common footballing knowledge, technique and tactical awareness their dedication can’t take them anywhere in world football Moreover the Atlanta 96 team u made reference to had 80% of the team playing for decent and top clubs in Europe then Amuneke was with sporting Lisbon Kanu just won the ucl with Ajax Babayaro was balling hard at anderlecht Jay jay was in the bundesliga with Frankfurt Olise was in reggiana abi fc koln West was with auxerre in ligue 1 which was one of France top teams then Mobi oparaku was in Belgium Babaginda was in Holland Ikpeba was lighting the French league with goals in the colors of Monaco under the tutelage of arsenal wenger Okechukwu was a top performer for Turkish giants fenebahche Amokachi was with Everton So tell me how this talented bunch mention above were just all about dedication? 6 Likes 1 Share |

charlesemeka85: Can you compare Amunike, Kanu, Okocha, Oliseh to the likes of Ronaldo De Lima, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Juninho, Bebeto, Dunga etc. Chill, I beg, Brazil had a gulf in class of players above us. Also, stop painting a false picture. Our players are not carpenters. So we are not dropping these big head players for carpenters. As long as these players are bigger than the team, they should stay bigger than the team. 4 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: I never told you jay jay and his mates were better than ronaldo, rivaldo,Ortega, crespo etc but we’re already doing well in top and decent clubs in Europe then which implies their talent and exposure were never in doubt so the chances of creating such upset against almighty Brazil and Argentina was possible no matter how slim the chance was The same almighty Brazil cameroon knocked them out with 2 men down in Sydney 2000 enroute to wining gold |

charlesemeka85: That is the point. So what are we humiliating ourselves begging these pre-Madonnas. Let us have a reach out to us policy and keep building ourselves. The better we become, we will have these players chasing us. Let us prioritize our youth system. Even at club levels and keep raising talents. We can grow. Even with our current group of players, we can go places. Let us have an open door policy for players to reach to us when they are ready. |

humility33:I keep on asking if better footballing countries like England,Italy,Germany,France etc are gaining from poaching players that has links to them what’s wrong with us doing same? Currently Poland just poached Aston villa’s English right bank who’s mom is polish just to fortify their team, does it mean they can’t find a decent right back in the polish league? They did that because they need better quality in the team Algeria is after olise and doesn’t seem they will ever give up does it mean they can’t get wingers/AM from their league which is among the best in Africa or through their diaspora kids scattered mostly in France? What about the likes of Tunisia,Morocco that hv a better rated league than ours aren’t they trying to lure players of their heritage born in Europe? Even I heard the Moroccan FA lure these kids with huge financial incentives which make them attractive and the reason why these kids hardly turns them down What about the current afcon champions Senegal? Abi dem Dey stupid to lure the likes of koulibaily, the Bayern and psg players in their ranks now? 3 Likes |

humility33: I want us to have the best players in every role willing and passionate to play for the team. I do not have preferred names but better players. I always like competition and the team improving. I already pointed out I want us focused on youth development. Meaning, I want every role challenged continuously. So leave that Nwakali talk. The most important team is the team should have players passionate to play for us and we should stop this red carpet treatment. |

charlesemeka85: That is the point. You do not need the best players in the world to make an impact. With the right group of quality players, you can create havoc. The Brazilian team had better talents than Cameroon, but Cameroon gave them hell. Let us stop making it look that without the very best Nigerians, we can not excel. We should wish Adarabioyo, Oliseh, Eze, and co the best. Keep working on developing ourselves. Change this begging policy and run an open door policy. Let them have a channel to reach out to the NFF if they are interested. Until then, stop trying to convince players to play for us. |

charlesemeka85: I want the best players passionate to play for Nigeria. I do not care where they were born. I care about the passion to represent us. We should stop tapping and focus on youth development. We can raise players as good as the ones overseas if we improve our youth development structure. That does not mean shutting the foreign borns out but the way for us to have interest in them is for them to show their interest in us. Stop all these players like Tammy Abraham and Ibe joking with us when we can raise players even better than them. The same goes for homegrown players. Any homeborn bigger than the team should be given time to grow with his club. FINITO. 1 Like |

charlesemeka85:I'm really with him on that. We don't actually need to go over and over to plead with them. The countries I saw you mentioning earlier, I'm sure they didn't send their FA president together with the senior coaches to go and poach the players over and over again. It is fine if they are approached once and then they give feedback when they are ready if they feel they are not ready now. |

TheGoodJoe:beating Argentina and Brazil in 96 is short term, the usefulness of that great Brazil squad was eventually seen by everybody. Just 2 years after, they made World Cup final before winning it in the next edition. Our own players? By the time 2002 came around a bunch of them were already declining. Supreme talent will always trump players who are just in form anytime any day 6 Likes 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe:open door policy? U never ready then The same open door policy the likes of Senegal,Morocco,Algeria,England,France,Italy,Germany operates when capping these kids abi? This our entitlement mentality is very common and evident in every one of us Keep the door open and expect them to come approach you to play for you when their country of birth FA are already monitoring their progress as well as pencilled them down for future engagements If your suggestion is applied by the nff na em be say na 2nd and 3rd division players go Dey rush the enter the door cus many of them doesn’t hv what it takes talent wise to rep other nations their hv links to It is the duty of the nff and coaches to reach out to this kids and make them know how important they will be to the team as well as the gains in repping us, even if they say they need time the door shouldn’t be shut at them It’s even better when they wholeheartedly make up their mind to play for us which will make them dedicated to the course of the team Adarabioyo who made it known totally that he hopes to play for England later rescinds his decision and reach out to the nff that he is ready to rep us so the nff should shut the door on him just because his first preference was his country of birth England? 2 Likes |

kingphilip:I get your point which is positive but this European FAs hv their own way of poaching players which seem easy for them because their teams are already more attractive to ours Also these players turning out for the youth and snr team adds value to their worth which is the reason at youth stage they hardly turn down invites to their cadet teams The English FA already knew that eze had a kick about with the Nigerian team but still went ahead to invite him to their u20 team a year later, he even came out to say that he is committed to Nigeria in an interview with his then club QPR which was removed online after few minutes of posting The next few days he gladly accepted the the invite to the team and the next is history This countries only turn blind eyes to players who they know hv slim chance of making their snr team but once they notice a prospect they will fight to tie him down. Jack grealish was even capped as an Irish u21 player but as soon as he started performing the English swooped in Same as rice who was an Irish youth international years back What about Aaron wan bissaka? He played for a make shift dr Congo team against one of England’s youth teams in a kick about in London years back during his years as a crystal palace youth teamer but immediately he started seeing minutes in the first team of palace with good performances he was integrated to the England 21 team |
