I don't know about America and the exact balance of powers at the moment
But the issue is Russia and Russians.
Are they solidly behind their President on this .... out of their own free will.
Do they fundamentally believe in his vision.... to recast the 'Soviet Union'.
And are they prepared to live and die for it.
That is what matters.
Putin will only survive this if he can get his country on board.
That I'm not sure of.

Have you seen any western country with freedom and democracy holding a public security council meeting like Russia is doing? All you get is CNN telling us that sources privy to the meeting, analysts and experts talking trash on TV but Putin has destabilized western media by not giving room to their studio speculations and propaganda
