Thomas Tuchel on Romelu Lukaku: "It was about hard work against the ball, off the ball, have intensive teamwork. Romelu struggled in the last few games a little bit to deliver that. That's what I meant when I felt him a bit tired both mentally & physically." [via @AdamNewson ] |

Thomas Tuchel: "You can clearly see we have a strong win and strong performance. It was a tough match and almost every question is about Romelu. The focus is huge. There were nine other players who did not play." "We should never forget we consider this sport a team sport and the eleven guys who play do everything to commit fully to what we plan and to commit fully to their teammates and those on the bench have to do the same and this is how it works." "Especially at Chelsea and especially for us and this is how we win football matches." [via @AdamNewson ] |

Havertz10:Remind us havertz output during the time lukaku was injured. Zero!!! Thing is lukaku made everything difficult for himself with the unnecessary interview he granted. Only way he can get back to the fans good books is if he hit the ground running with goals as soon as he was back to the team, unfortunately he have failed. Now because of the paltry number havertz was able muster in these few games, "I told you so" wan start. And I am not a fan of lukaku. But havertz have been shiiit 18 Likes |

Havertz10:How can a top club still be using a striker like Lukaku in 2022. Chelsea board are just foo.lish. Tuchel refused to argue and allowed them do what’s in their mind due to his incident with psg board. He purposely play Lukaku for those past games to send a message. With Lukaku our level of play dropped, he is best for mid table club. Even Ole saw how poor Lukaku is technically with or without the ball yet chelsea board spent 100m euro to get him, they keep on repeating same mistake; from Torres instead of Suarez to bakayoko instead of fabinho and now Lukaku. Popizaino keep on talking about service I mean are you not watching the game and seeing that lukaku is not making any technical move to receive passes; he is big, immobile, visible and ineffective, no interplay, makes tuchel tactics predictable and boring. |

Very nice result yesterday. One foot into the quarter finals. Good play from havertz yesterday as the top9. He linked up well with the other attackers, He was engaging very well in the defensive aspects of the game as much as the offensive aspects, while creating big chances to score early on. The question still remains though, is havertz a striker?? Can any big team rely on havertz to be a striker for a whole season?? Is that his best position?? I feel he's more of a makeshift, a patching up of a problem area. As for Pulisic, I hate that tuchel doesn't play him on the left wing. Whenever he plays there, he is devastating. He should be the nailed on starter on that left flank, ahead of odoi and others. Also more direct and clinical than others. As for our midfield, kante did a very good job, as usual triggering our counters by good close control, acceleration and breaking the opponents lines, nice assist to cap off a good performance but it still has to be noted that his basic flaw which is passing was still showing yesterday, he gave away the ball numerously yesterday by poor passing but makes up for this with his pressing to retrieve the ball and loose balls. I disagree with the man of the match award though because I feel that our defense did more than our midfield yesterday. Silva was our best performer yesterday, making crucial blocks, tackles and clearances. Stats wise, Renato Sanchez was the best player yesterday. Our midfield succumbed to their pressure, we allowed them to boss the midfield but our defense did a good job of snuffing out their attacking moves in our final third. I still wish to see a formation where all 3 of them play, kovacic, kante jorginho. They all have good attributes that complement themselves. Jorginho almost guarantees midfield domination, kante and kovacic inject energy and skillet that helps in turnovers and transitioning and hopefully, better creativity. We were overrun badly yesterday. When jorginho plays, we dominate possession but lack attacking flair. Use all three in the middle. That solves that. I hope the injuries we picked up yesterday were not serious, we are entering the most crucial phase of the season. This is where we determine how our season ends and how many trophies we win. We can't afford much injuries abeg. All things being equal, we will win Liverpool on Sunday. So far as Lukaku remains on the bench. 5 Likes |

To think that all the leprous fingers are no longer dragging midfield between Mount and havertz. Its now lukaku vs havertz. I guess Mount won finally. Havertz and Midfield are no longer mentioned in the same sentence. Lol 11 Likes |

Havertz10: I'm supporting my striker because he is signed and he is going nowhere at his age and wages. I was one of those against his signing for that reason. It is therefore funny that those who shouted for his signing are now disavowing themselves. Even you who claimed Havertz is nothing but a 10 are now changing mouth to say Havertz is a 9 when some of us suggested prosecuting the season with Havertz as 9 in the summer, and you told us Havertz is nothing but a 10 whereas the only position I've seen Havertz look slightly promising is as a 9. What I am seeing from Lukaku is extreme lack of confidence brought on by reaction to his interview to the point he is hiding on the pitch. I don't believe someone with his goal record is as clueless at making the right runs as some of you make out. All I see is extreme lack of confidence and hiding on the pitch as a result of that. Those of us who play the long game will hold steady than rush to judgement. It is up to Lukaku to rediscover himself and get over that interview. 20 Likes 1 Share

Havertz10:Actually I never thought lukaku was the best option, he just picked one of the conversation then to attack me. I really wanted us to get Halaand and frown when lukaku news was popping up but seeing Halaand’s fee and time was no longer on our side I had to succumb to the board getting lukaku. I never fancy lukaku as a footballer from day 1. There is this football basics lacking in his play; he got strength and maybe pace but technically bad which is not good for a top club. 2 Likes |

Ibime:You just picked the end part of my comment then. Initially I was against lukaku’s signing but seeing how Dortmund was not ready to let Halaand go I had to succumb to the board’s transfer target. But if you check my previous post before I never wanted nor fancy lukaku as a player for a top club. |

hensben: Come on brother, it's good to have memory of your previous positions. It's better to say you changed your mind than say you never fancied the player. That comment was made on July 1st, when transfer market has barely opened. You could have suggested many other players at that point like Patson Daka and co. 12 Likes
