how many statistically speaking? one domain name cost 3k-5k now to hand register... how many domains would he buy before that 30k is gone? exchange rate is not your friend.

1. Educate yourself about domain flipping first before you start registering domain names to sell. As you learn, you'll get to a tipping point where you've the confidence of the best domain names to buy and sell.
2. Don't be in a hurry to start buying domain names if you've not acquired the requisite knowledge to buy and sell domain names. First, start reading from page one of this thread. It's huge amount of reading but it will pay off ultimately.
3. You can get a coach or mentor you can rely on. The op of this thread is a leading recommendation you can get training from.
4. Ask questions as you progress with your learning and studying. Don't be harsh on people if they don't reply or answer you. Persist in asking and someone will be kind enough to answer you. I see a lot of newbies being aggressive and I quickly discount them.
5. There are other forums and websites where you can learn and augment your knowledge in domaining such as NamePros, DNForum, DomainSherpa, etc. All these sites are in dot com.
6. A good domain name to buy is one with good business idea behind it whether it's keyword, brandable or geo domain name.
7. When you start buying domain names, don't overtrade so that domain renewal fees will not weigh you down when it's time to keep or lose your domain.

.com still remains the king of extensions for now and will be strip of that position only if the world economic power shift from USA.
An attempt was made by China(The great Chinese domain rush of 2015) which later fizzled out.
Domains are more than just a name, they are the heartbeat of economy.
Because if there are no Domains there won't be websites, no websites (In this age) no companies, no companies no industries and if there are no industries there won't be economy.

Alot of things go into pricing a domain name. Ask yourself these few questions to decide on the best price.
1. Type of domain name: is it brandable or GEO?
2. What keywords make up the domain name? How valuable are the keywords?
3. What industry is the domain suitable for? What business can it be used for?
4. Comparable sales: Check how much related domains sold in the past.
These will give you an idea of the best price to put on the domain name.
Online appraisal are bots and they are most times not accurate. Industry knowledge is more better than using appraisal tools

I'm sure you don't know about that or how speculation in the industry works.

While I don't actively participate in the domain industry anymore, I'd like to to say do your research before buying any domain name.
