Stop the war how?
Putin's end game is to reconstitute the Soviet Union forcefully.
Ukraine is his first port of call.
How is that the West's fault or what can they do.
If Putin turns on Nigeria for instance the way Hitler turned into Africa in 1941 for her resources, what should the west do?
It is up to those countries to defend themselves.

PS. The reason why the Allies went after the Nazis in North Africa was because Hitler was heading for the Gulf and its oil resources which will have prolonged the war in Europe. So the West will only support Ukraine to the extent the war does not endanger any NATO country.
