The problem I seem to come across the most when arguing against the theist in real life is an inability to remove their faith from their perception of the world… in that, god is always there and they cannot seem to even imagine a world without it. They just don’t seem to have the ability to remove their ideologies, even for a moment. Basically, they have a difficult time considering any other view points because they cannot remove their belief from their perspective, even for a moment.

When I get close to having them remove their religious views from their perception of the world, they start talking about how there would be no purpose or meaning if they continue down that path. That without their belief in god, there would be no meaning or purpose so no point in even thinking that way. As if belief in their god has any purpose or meaning. It is as if they cannot even imagine the possibility that a world without their god can exist.
