claremont: Shell 99 octane petrol gives me better millage, I haven't used supermarket in a while and bought Asda some days back, the next they I was having rough idle on cold start. I don't know what was the cause but I want to blame omit on the petrol. I have since gone back to 99 octane. One day I will be brave enough to get a diesel engine. Phobia of generator and truck diesel engine repairs from naija won't allow me to go near them 1 Like |

fatima04: Yes. But you still have to open a physical account to transfer money into it. So right now, it's useless. |

Please advice and also how do I change the person name on the energy How much should we budget for gas to heating and cooking House energy rating is C. My eyes is turnionion 3 Likes |

Akorkor: That’s a bit steep. Did the prepaid meter have a negative balance when you moved in? |

Peerielass: OMG! I think the person is owning.

Akorkor: Did you get a new key from Scottish Gas when you moved in or are you using the previous tenant’s key? It’s been a while since I lived in a house with key meter so I might be wrong, but I think your provider should have given you a new key which resets the balance. They can then pursue the previous tenant or landlord for the bad debt. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Peerielass: An old key of electricity was given to us. So I am creating a new account for us now. Regards, |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Peerielass: 8:53am On Feb 24, 2022 |
Akorkor: You need to call them this morning since the key has ‘swallowed’ your £20 top up. |

Peerielass: I got an update now after calling scottish power and I got to know that the previous tenant is using OVOenergy. Pay as you go. I don't even understand this thing anymore |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Peerielass: 11:15am On Feb 24, 2022 |
Akorkor: Ok, call Ovo and see what they have to say. The previous tenant’s account must surely be in debt. |

Akorkor: How long did you heat or use the £20 Topup? It’s absolutely possible to use up £20 within a day if you used it longer than necessary 1 Like |

justwise: Justwise, the photo says the meter is currently £17.95 or so in debt. Surely she couldn’t have used £37.95 since yesterday. 1 Like |

Hello UK elders, Please I need your input. I suppose to post on student visa thread but I believe there are more experienced UK people here. I got an offer for "MSc Psychology" and "MSc psychological wellbeing and mental health" , which one of the two can I go for that I can easily get job.. Thank you |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by icon8: 2:29pm On Feb 24, 2022 |
Darsty99:I’m not an elder, nor am I in the health and social care sector but I think the one with wellbeing and mental health would be broader in scope and therefore offer more opportunities in terms of job prospect. It’s the old specialist vs generalist debate, which largely depends on what you really want. Comparing the curriculum for both programmes should give you an indication of what to expect and which aligns more with you career aspirations. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Akorkor: That is the problem, each time you Topup the meter will take the money owed by the previous tenant Call them and explain this |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by justwise(m): 2:47pm On Feb 24, 2022 |
Peerielass: You are right, it’s about his usage currently, the previous tenant did the deed |

Justwise, please do you have experience with stand-alone heater? I have used it before in US and it helps making the room hot faster but don’t know how the charges would be for electricity in the UK? Do you think it’s worth trying? |

Darsty99: As a psychologist, I will suggest MSc. psychological well-being and mental health as this put you at a minimum of band 6 position as a CBT therapist or psychological therapist. With MSc. psychology, you will require specialisation and getting higher pay, a doctorate is required. This degree can get you assistant psychology position of band 4 or 5. However, some CBT position also request for MSc psychology degree but not all. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Hello everyone. Please has anyone processed visitors visa recently. How long did it take? That of my mom's is over 3 weeks and when I called UKVI I was told it now takes 3 - 6 weeks. I had no idea and we already booked her flight. |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by justwise(m): 4:47pm On Feb 24, 2022 |
Akorkor: I wouldn’t encourage it, yes you are right about it getting the room hotter faster but the same way the hotness disappears the moment you switched it off and the bill comes off your Topup meter. |

Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by LagosismyHome(f): 4:55pm On Feb 24, 2022 |
JanegirlN: Nobody can ever predict especially visiting as each applicant is different. You might look into changing the flight date if you need to |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by fatima04: 5:42pm On Feb 24, 2022 |
JanegirlN: Send the paid email to UKVI to know the status, they will either confirm if a decision is made or not. If they say decision is made, then ask for an escalation if you want but usually this email request triggers TLS/BHC to do the needful. Hope this helps. This method has helped with getting visas out recently. |
