Men who are merely armed but not trained in combat techniques will not last more than a few seconds if confronted by well-trained combatants who understand the use of covering fire, advance and retreat protocol, flanking maneuvers, and most importantly marksmanship.

Actually, the details of the make and model of those vehicles are VITAL to police investigations. The owners of such vehicles, assuming they were not stolen, will now be hastily discarding the vehicles or trying to repaint them so as to confuse investigators.
