I think the answer is Yes!

Infact in the world we live in today, its now foolishness not to have some sort of nuclear weapons in your arsenal capable of doing extreme damage to your enemies or bullies.

Just look at Ukraine. At some point in their existence, Ukraine had some nuclear weapons which they gave away under some stupid agreement with the West and Russia.

Now its same Russia that is bullying them under some lame excuse called security concerns .

I guess Russia wouldn't be so bold to invade Ukraine if their nuclear weapons were still with them.

Now i know that the president of North Korea is wise. Never give up your weapons under any agreement.
The only thing big nations are scared of is weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear weapons.

Can countries like Nigeria think out of the box?
Imagine having a population of over 200m and nothing to protect them. If we get bullied by a powerful nation such as Russia today, we will be at their mercy.

Nope! This aint enough reason not to develop nuclear systems for security and technology.

Developing nuclear technology has its risks but in a fast-changing world, there is no option than take the risk and start somewhere.

For your information, nuclear systems aren't built in urban areas or where there is population density.

Its better to start now than wait till we get bullied like Ukraine.

who would want to bully Nigeria and for what reason?
A nuclear weapon in a diverse, hate filled, anger filled, country like Nigeria is a no no no.

A country where politicians can do and undo for selfish reasons

Is the Nigerian nation not been bullied already?

Nigeria as it is now is a nation with no balls.

Every significant action we take must be in tandem with what the west or China wants.

Do you think we need to wait till we have enemies or bullies before we start preparing for a world where laws are not obeyed by USA, China or Russia?

I have said it before signing non- nuclear pacts is most foolish thing for a nation. Why should some have and others don't. Countries should learn a lesson from Ukraine vs Russia debacle.your safety is Paramount to any evil agenda. It will only take one mad man (Putin) a lighter to lit a petrol station. Ukraine sorry to you , you have since 2014 to develop atomic bombs but you failed thinking you are dealing with saner nation . But what you don't know is Putin is a mad man. A pity NATO and USA the war they are running away Russia will bring it to their door step . They failed to be proactive against Putin. Now after Ukraine ..Russia will try also in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania let's see what scared NATO will do.

Nigeria has strong diplomatic ties with USA, China and Russia.
They will do everything to make sure Nigeria is peaceful.
Economically, they have strong stakes in Nigeria too.
We are ok with our super tukano for now, There are more things to worry about than inter continental wars.
Nigeria isn't a small country like Ukraine people will want to invade, its like trying to take over India, they may not be as strong as u are but they will have people who will fight for them.

What do you mean by strong diplomatic ties?

Is it the slave-master relationship? Or better still developed-underdeveloped status relationship that benefits the big nations and makes sure Nigeria remains poor or beneath them?

And how long do you think it takes for nations to make a u-turn and stop being friends?

our problem is terrorism, corruption and lack of entrepreneurial drive among the youths.

Oga stop blaming the white men, the people stealing Nigerian wealth are Nigerians and not the white men

I hope you're joking sha. Go and check how much it took USA to just develop atomic bombs which is more than a thousand times less powerful than Hydrogen bombs that we have now. We are talking of hundreds of billions of dollars. So you want Nigeria to use budget of like 5 years to acquire nuclear warheads. Abeg it's not that deep. Some entities will always be at the mercy of some other entities, you just have to accept that. It's not by just believing in ourselves the capacity no just dey. And by the way we don't have technical knowhow to do it and no world power will dispose their nuclear warheads to anyone because of money. Usa through UN has convinced many countries to destroy theirs in the past

Well you seem to be talking off-point!

This thread isnt to discuss Nigeria's problem of corruption!

Also if you understand my opinion well, i never mentioned that the white man is responsible for Nigeria's problems.

The point ist that we need to start going nuclear for our technological and security needs. That way, we dont get bullied one day like Ukraine.

Never say never!

Yes its a fact nuclear weapons are captial-intensive.

That shouldn't stop a serious country from doing what will eventually pay off in the long run.
There are some countries even smaller than Nigeria that have succeeded in this regard.

Its not impossible because of money for Nigeria to make a headway in this. We have to start somewhere and be patient.

Like you pointed out, we simply lacked the will.

But from what is happening around the world, soonet or later, we must do this or we may get wiped off from the earth.

A country that can not manufacture light weapons for its police is talking about nuclear weapons, isn't it madness
