Honestly, the problem for countries who abide by the rule of law (democracy) is that they can't make decisions like dictators. Putin has taken advantage of that.

Everybody knew it would come to this. Russia has been amassing troops along Ukrainian doorstep for months. Their intention was to invade. If the west really wanted to deter Putin, the only way was to make the military risks too great for Russia to undertake.

Like you reasoned, Europe as a bloc has probably let Ukraine down. I've been following the updates from the Ukrainian president and his pleas on social media has been emotional. War is really sad. This is a senseless war Ukraine never wanted.

Militarily, Europe is really not very strong. Germany has been a disgrace as they have remained largely low-key. Only the UK is talking tough, with France.

If NATO had at least moved their forces quick enough into Ukraine their presence alone might have been enough to deter Putin. It would take a lot of balls for him to shoot at soldiers bearing the NATO tag.

Russia has once the world power so USA been the world power is not permanent, but Russia won't tolerate them because they know better. Russia is among the powerful countries in the world, Russia has 6000+ nuclear war head alone, just imagine if they give North Korea like 50 and other allies especially giving 100 to Mexico close to USA border, what will be USA reaction to Mexico?
