They almost bottled the game if not that Fabian Ruiz is so good shooting outside the box.

Politano could have squared it to Victor for a tap-in, he went himself and missed.

Di Lorenzo got numerous opportunities to cross, he chose to recycle or try useless 1-2s and dribbles wasting the opportunity.

Napoli are not direct enough and it will come back to bite them.

But Napoli players are useless nah and they still saved the day ,nearly cannot kill a bird

Osimhen wasn’t bad against Barca as most of you where saying ,Napoli isn’t on same level with Barca and that’s on period

Glad to see Napoli won and I think the team is still a work in progress. However, I was quite impressed with their build-up play.

Either way, the corridor between the midfield and the attack looked clueless until Elmas came in and brought some presence. Good win for them.

As for Osimhen, he got lots of his movement wrong and I hope he sorts it out. If he can improve his movements, he will become dynamite. The last goal by Fabian Ruiz highlights it. When Insigne got the ball, there was room for Osimhen to attack. The space was calling for someone to step up. Luckily, Ruiz found the space and took the opportunity. If Osimhen made the run to that space, Insigne would have laid the ball to him to finish.

Osimhen instead chose to stay in a tight area and got easily picked up.

I hope he makes this improvement fast because he can become a to player in the Serie A.

This is the first full 90 I'd watch of Napoli this year and this is my first comment on them in this thread.

Yes, they can be very shitty. Although better than when Gattuso was handling them but they are still largely clueless when on the ball...I don't understand why. Almost as if they are struggling to remember their play sequence.

Individual brilliance saved them against Lazio today

Almost like the Pareto principle honestly.
80% waste 20% game on = 80% result, 20% loss

Build up play impressed you? I'd applaud that they know how to get out of tight spaces..and then go back to cluelessness

I will like to share some position play by Dusan Vlahovic. You will see from the frames that he is fully involved in the build-up plays of his team.

If Osimhen moved to where you highlighted he would have had to use his left foot. Is his left foot strong? We saw how wayward it got once in the match

As I said, it is a work in progress. When they come out of tight spaces, they looked lost, however, they were really quality coming out of those tight spaces. Elmas really brought more connection, and they can progress from there.

Better to go into space with your weaker foot than no space at all. However, if he gets the ball, he can always switch to his right to shoot.

More pics from Dusan Vlahovic.

The last pic was the first goal, which shows him attacking space in the box and creating room for a pass. This is what Osimhen needs to make a part of him. Attacking spaces and being part of the build-up play.

Frames of Dusan Vlahovic gotten from his game against Empoli. You can see the clip below. Sad the clip did not show how deep Vlahovic operated before scoring the second goal.

Sorry. Youtube took the video down. Glad I downloaded it.

They should have thought osimhen this kind of movement in his football academy in Nigeria.
We cheat our kids out if many things by training them badly. We don't know that a poor boy can go anywhere onlife and so we don't take coaching serious

We need to take coaching seriously in this country. It is the bane of our football.
Coaching is very fundamental and important to football.
Ronaldo da Lima was coached by Jarzinho who played in the 1970 world cup.
I'm tired maybe I will start my football academy one day with emphast on coaching for kids under 19
Osimhen is the product of poor coaching and a failed or limited football system

Osimhen has lots of things he does right. He works hard. Today, he ran a marathon. 90mins non-stop. He pressed hard. He showed athletism and he does have a mean shot.

Positional play can be learned. Yes, the Europeans get it early. Like in Spain, even the academies are coached by Pro-License badge holders. However, I believe tactical movement can be learned. It takes the coach to address it and practice it repeatedly until the striker syncs with the idea.

I expect big things from Osimhen when he hits the Super Eagles camp. He just has to learn it because it will bring out his other attributes.

Absolutely, Fundamental core coaching, Discipline, conditioning, and contentment could be one of the reasons why our players are never consistent at the Top. Our players has been surviving on their Natural talent all through their career. A player like mikel obi was a natural Gifted CAM, Mourinho converted him to a DM for 3 seasons and when mourinho was terminated, Mikel was contented as a DM instead of Hustling his way and reverting back to his original position either by departing Chelsea or improving on his weakness

It was a counter attack and Oshimen got his movement spot on. His presence drew the defender to himself and out of position freeing up that space for Ruiz!

Ruiz came in from midfield, so that was not freeing space. Osimhen was to attack that space, after it is free. Not stay in a marked zone. At the time of that frame, the next move is to attack the space.

By the way, Ruiz did not attack the space created in midfield but in the box, there was an offensive space that Osimhen was to attack but he did not.

He can not be spot on when there is a clear space in the box to attack.

Those 3 men at the back were just following him like mtn me thinks he did right by keeping them close to himself, thereby leaving the gap for ruiz to attack.

It was a counter the guy carrying the ball was moving through the middle Oshimen moved to the right and Insigne to the left. The defenders were on Oshimen leaving Insigne and the 18 yard open for a Lampardsque shot. I don't know where else you want him to run to. Ruiz should definitely be the one to attack that space. Oshimen did his job Ruiz also did. Perfect!

The image is too clear as daylight. All you are talking about was before the position. Now in this position, Osimhen is calling for the ball. Instead of calling for the ball, he should know he is in a tight area and Insigne will not pass to a tight area. Instead of calling for the ball, attack the space.

Also, attacking that space will draw the defence off their guarded back and will give room for the other players to attack the side space that will be created.

The code is to attack spaces.

That was because Ruiz took initiative to attack the space. Osimhen should show initiative to attack spaces.

If Osimhen had gone to that Space, he will have a chance to score or create chance for another to score.

Staying in tight areas takes him off the equation.
