TheGoodJoe:It's laughable you using this to judge Oshimen's movement. Google all Oshimen goals this season and stop this ridiculous analysis to prove a point that does not exist. It's easy to critique him when all the forward players hung on to the ball. Even the coach and some players complained about it. |

TheGoodJoe: In this case, he did the right thing. Coming towards the ball would have futher choked up the space and made it easier for the defenders to defend. But I agree with you he should learn to be more involved in the build up play. It's one major quality that makes you a modern striker |

fabyom: I am talking of improvements Osimhen could make after watching him for 90 minutes. There is room for him to become even more potent and deadlier. His teammates will hug the ball if he does not attack spaces. If he is in space, the passes will come. If he is tight with defenders, passing will prove hard to come. 1 Like |

RichardKajola: Space, space, space. That is the modern idea. (from my understanding and personal philosophy). As long as the space is there, you attack it. That is how you disrupt the opposition defensive line. In that case, the space was there and he did not attack it. It happened repeatedly. If Osimhen starts attacking spaces and helping in build-up play, I can bet, he will be phenomenal. 1 Like |

fabyom: I do not understand. Osimhen can not run towards the direction of the arrow, to make him get into space for the pass. How is that impossible? I watched that game and the camera was from Osimhen's angle. It was clear and I was like, ATTACK THE GAP. He did not attack it. He should start attacking gaps. 1 Like

fabyom: Serie A has posted the highlight. Let me show you from the view I saw. Look at the picture below. It is almost humanly impossible to get that ball to Osimhen. So he should think of exploiting that wide gap. Which makes him visible and part of the play. It was what Fabian Ruiz saw that made him attack the gap. All I am saying is that Osimhen should stop thinking of his teammates getting the ball to him but make it easier for them to make easy/simple passes to him. FINITO. 4 Likes

Either way, Spaletti should ensure that Elmas starts often for Napoli. He made the team gel more in the middle. Liked his play. |

The death of the center forward "It may be that the current dearth is a freak, and that over the next five years a vast numbers of gifted goalscorers will emerge, but this feels like a result of the way the game has evolved. Goalpoachers have all but vanished from the game at the highest level as strikers these days need to be multifaceted. They can’t simply hang around the box, or drift off the shoulder of the last defender, or dart across the near post to finish off chances others have crafted for them. They must now also be capable of creating their own opportunities and, perhaps even more significantly, of linking the play." https://www.worldsoccer.com/features/the-death-of-the-centre-forward-366598 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:You are tiring. Sometimes I think you purposely switch off your mind when you want to argue so you can... win? The argument In this particular match, I reiterate, "attacking such space" as you want would have been an unnecessary move that may have not produced any goal |

Russian national team and club sides removed from FIFA and UEFA organized competition. Hmmm sey Ejuke won't explore options on how to leave CSKA like this? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/60560567?at_custom3=%40BBCBreaking&at_campaign=64&at_custom1=%5Bpost+type%5D&at_custom2=twitter&at_custom4=54D8FA10-98BE-11EC-AF90-431016F31EAE&at_medium=custom7 2 Likes |

Odunayaw: What did Fabian Ruiz do in that space? He scored from range. Not saying Osimhen must score from range but he can also attract defenders to him and free space for his teammates to attack. It's better than staying irrelevant. 1 Like |

Odunayaw: How can it be unnecessary? It is the best solution. You must attack gaps. Than staying in tight spaces where your teammates can not pass to you. |

I also noticed that Osimhen gets clattered a lot by the opposition because he plays in tight areas. Playing aggressively in such tight spaces leads him to get hit by the opposition. If he plays utilizing more pockets of space around him, he will get fewer hard knocks. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by fabyom: 7:13pm On Feb 28, 2022 |
TheGoodJoe:This clearly shows Oshimen did the right thing by attacking the far post and Ruiz did the right thing by attacking the 18 as the attacking midfielder. Simple. The fear of Insigne locating Oshimen at the far post opened up that space for Ruiz. All of them did their job there's nothing here to critique Oshimen for. 1 Like |

True he needs to be smarter on how to utilize space better not everything jam body. Napoli's style is also slightly too slow to match Osimhen's pace but I think that's a general issue of the Italian league not so much Napoli. I don't have the exact numbers but I think the Serie A is the slowest in terms of miles run by the top 5 leagues. TheGoodJoe: 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: Yesterday, Liverpool and Chelsea played one of the best final in recent years, with both teams starting with no real number 9.... Indeed, the future of the game is switching away gradually from the traditional 18 yard box strikers... 7 Likes 1 Share |

chrisooblog: I agree too. Napoli seems like a team that likes the slow play. And, Osimhen is more suited for the direct attack game. If you notice, he regularly beckons on his teammates to high press to win the ball. What I even find impressive is how long Osimhen can continue pressing. However, I think he can maintain his intensity of play but change his direction of play when his team is with the ball. If he drops deep with intensity, he can give the team more offensive options. While still maintaining his pressing style when the team loses the ball. |

fabyom: There is no fear of Osimhen. He was locked and out of the equation. The person that gets into the equation is the person that attacks space. |

TheGoodJoe:So what was Osimhen doing? he wasn't attracting defenders? Is it not his position that left Ruiz unchallenged for his curler |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by fabyom: 8:09pm On Feb 28, 2022 |
TheGoodJoe:Pictorial analysis is not real life football. Strikers are meant to attack the far post while goalkeepers are to cover their near post. It's a simple coaching terminology. |

Russia should be banned from every thing possible. I'm loving this. Kudos to FIFA, brave decision. 3 Likes |
