backbencher: Wrong again, democracy won't solve our problem in Nigeria. If care is not taken, post-election after 2023 will be worse off. We have been practising democracy before now and see where it has gotten us. |

Mrquote: 1. I never said subsidy was a scam, i have backed subsidy removal since 2012, i am not in goverment and i don't back buhari nor have i ever voted for him. 2. I am.also.not you people. 3. Goverment does not want to state the obvious. They don't have money to maintain the subsidy as it stands. But telling the truth is political suicide. So, silence, while they urgently look for an extra 3 trillion naira |

Re: Fuel Scarcity: Ibadan Residents Groan As Petrol Price Increases by Nobody: 2:17pm On Mar 01, 2022 |
hargbolahan01: Well 1..Oil producing countries with subsides fund it by taxes. Nigeria funds subsides from crude oil revenue directly. Our crude oil revenue is not enough inthe first place because we have 200 million people. (Saudi which has subsides has 40 million and produces 8 times more crude than we do) 2.Niger republic has oil and has a refinery. No subsides. Fuel costs 350 there. Same for chad. 3. Your education and health is heavily subsidised. That's why your university fees don't cost as much as 1million to 2 million naira if you went to a government university. You also don't pay road toll. If you use the rail you pay less than 5pounds for a two hour journey that in the UK would cost far more for the same distance. Your power is even subsidised as well. |

[quote author=backbencher post=110658084]All because we bring in fuel at N282 and sell it at N162 per liter And the n282 is not static . Rising oil prices means it can pass 300 naira or more. Meanwhile we sell the crude at 162. And subsidy costs don't cover the resulting loss So prices have to go up or it would become too costly to keep fuel at N162 per liter. And yes, the money that could have been used for refineries goes to paying for that subsidy. That is part of why we don't have refineries [/quote So dangote building refinery is richer than federal government. Ori e ope |
