Ok nice one. Hopefully the visa bulletin moves faster as it is still in December 2014. I wish you all the best.
But do you think some of us that are;
F1
PD April 2014
DQ May 2021 have hope of getting interview date this year 2022?

It depends on the Lagos Embassy o cos a group on Facebook a lady in Taiwan with PD 2015 F1 has gotten her interview for 14th February

If you are working and earning a good income in Nigeria. Stay back, give it one more year! Use this year to prepare for gmat, write your essays and apply for your mba here in the USA and hold your admission. Aim for a part or full scholarship.

Also save aggressively. scale down and save as much as you can for a softer landing

It will be much easier to get a job with their education here than with the uk. Not impossible, but easier. Plus the network you will make in school will be invaluable to you.

That is the thing is both me and my spouse are jobless and out of business right now. The only available funds now is what I want to use to relocate to UK with my family, that way my spouse can work full time while I study, my spouse has a masters already from UK.

Nigeria is so unstable now to risk involving the funds into any business say for the next one year while waiting for NVC. But reading you comments about “easier to get a job with US education than that of UK” now i am wondering if it’s advisable for both of us to have UK certificates since we hope to move to the US finally OR waiting it out here in Nigeria would be the best.

Hello guys,

I need your input on this. I'm sorry, it's going to be a long one, kindly bear with me:

I'm waiting to be DQ, under F2B PD March 2016 (visa bulletin is in Sept 2015)

I've always planned to do a masters in my field as soon as I immigrated but since the pandemic struck and everything slowed down, I feel like I should no longer just sit and wait for my green card.
I have gotten an admission into a US graduate school of my top choice (still looking for funding) and plan to apply for a student visa.
My plan is to come back to Nigeria for my immigrant visa interview when it reaches my turn and I get an interview letter, I do not mind that at all. I'm hoping that will happen before my 2-year MSc is over.
I want to get a masters in US specifically because that is where I plan to settle and a US degree will help secure jobs better and faster than degrees from another country

I just don't want to keep my career stagnant because of an unfortunate pandemic as I'm in the best phase to take this step.

I will like to add that I have previously gotten a B1/B2 visitors visa which I used once all while waiting for the immigrant visa. I had thought then too that they wouldn't grant the visitors visa because of my pending immigration stuff but they did. The visa officer just made sure to remind me not to mess up or overstay because that will negatively affect my immigration case.

Also, I am contemplating applying for a renewal of my visitors visa before applying for the student visa since I qualify for their new 'no interview, drop box' renewal. This is because regardless of whether my student visa is approved or not, I will like to visit my family freely without breaking their rules.

My questions are:
1. What do you guys think my chances of getting the student visa approved are?
2. Should I bother with the renewal of visit visa?
3. If my visit visa is approved and my student visa is refused after, will they cancel my visit visa that was approved?
4. If my visit visa is refused, will that negatively affect my chances of getting the student visa in a few months after?

Thank you.

please on what ground where you given a B1 visa? I’m F1 category, priority date is August 2015 and I’m yet to be Dqed. I’m stuck here and i haven’t seen my family since 2016, would have love to apply for a visitor’s visa just to see them. Please how did you go about it?

I went for a conference and used that to visit family. You should give it a shot. You may be lucky too.
I should probably add that I was in school at the time although the VO didn't even ask about that. Just questioned me on what I was going to do and told me not to mess up.

Your plan is solid.
I don’t see why your visiting visa should be refused. More so you did not overstay plus you are going for Dropbox.
For your masters go through the us student visa page and make sure you dot your is and cross your ts.

Hello there. I need your candid opinion on this please.

I got married to a US citizen but I'm currently in Ukraine and due to the unrest and uncertainty of war with Russia, all US consular services in Ukraine have been shot down. I have until August as a legal resident in Ukraine and our Cr1 (Marriage visa) is at the NVC level, meaning that, getting an interview date is the next thing. My questions are:

1. Do you think transferring my case to the US Embassy in Nigeria is a great option considering how overwhelming the backlog is over there?

2. Do you think remaining in Ukraine makes any sense as to not knowing when consular services would resume?

3. Do you think transferring my case to an African country where US consular services are faster is a great deal? If yes, please advise on which African country.

I really hope I get a helpful response and please I'll highly appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!

Hey guys, how does getting a police report at the UK embassy in Nigeria work? For someone who attended university in the UK back in the 1970s. He is doing IR5 and it was discovered in the interview that he needs a UK police report from his days way back then in the UK. Kindly advise please. Thanks.

Good Day All,
I have been follow this wonderful and useful trend for sometime, and I always found it helpful.
This is my first time of asking question, because I usually get my answers from other people's questions.
Pls I really need a solution on this
Myself, my wife and child got an invitation letter last year August 2021, the interview went well with me and my child, however, my wife was not allowed to attend the interview because she has to go for a further screening. Thankfully, the test results came fine after ten weeks. And since October last year 2021 we have been looking for interview date for her till now, even the Medical is expired. How possible can we get an interview date for her. We understand we have to go thru another medicals. Pls kindly assist.

Since your wife's case is already at the Lagos consulate and no longer at NVC, you *might* be able to schedule an appointment by yourself. Log in here and see if it allows you to schedule an appt https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?country=Nigeria

I hope you're keeping safe. If I were you, I would appeal to other countries before transferring to Nigeria as the backlog in Nigeria is too much. Eg, you can write to the consulate in Turkey to see if they will take your case. Explain that you're resident in Ukraine and the consulates there are closed due to the war. At worst, they'll say no. At best, they'll say yes. I suggested Turkey because apparently their backlog is not that long and some sharp Nigerians have moved there just so that they can get there interview letters faster. And apparently, it's not that difficult to become a resident there.
If Turkey doesn't work, write to other consulates in Europe. All it takes is for someone to say hell yeah we'll take him.

Thank you very much for your response.
But that was exactly what we have been doing since October last year, and we were unable to schedule interview appointment till now, as in, No Appointment Date Available on the site.
We even called, thesame story no Date Available to schedule an appointment.
So I we don't know if there are some other ways to schedule interview appointment.

In most cases, US jobs isn’t crazy/freak about educational certificates like that of Naija. They’re more after how many years of experience you’ve got under your belt and what you can do.

While it’s very okay to study in their own schools, it’s never a deal breaker. It’s even easier and better to get a certificate from a UK based college than that of Naija because after employment offer, to verify education from these Naija schools na wahala.

Note: it may depend on the type of profession you’re looking at. But I know this for sure that in the Tech industry, they mostly don’t care. I’m a manager who recruit for my team and mostly don’t give a hoot about where you get your degree or your certifications from as far as you have good skills with hands on experience and do great in the technical interview, you’d get the role and make nice 6 figures.

IMO
