The truth is high oil prices mean nothing.

At the end, buhari has failed by not getting us diversified.

Even if high oil prices improve the economy , it is still a bad economy

Nigeria needs side hustle

Dollar is still scarce and high at 580. Buhari is still cashing out seriously . No more Jonathan sold oil at 100 dollar

Oil price during johnny regime was 91 to 130 dollars per barrel from 2010 to 14, and fell to 75 dollars in 2015.

Bubu? 75 dollars in 2015, 30 dollars in 2016 and between 50 to 80 dollars. Year of covid it was as low as 20 to 25 dollars. It has only gotten as high as 100 dollars in 3 weeks, while gej had it above 100 dollars for 2 to 3 years.

You are comparing 3 weeks with 2 years.

Even then, Buhari should have taken the chance to diversify. He did not. That's why we have had a bad economy under him.

Well, the point I am ultimately trying to make is , Nigeria is too too dependent on oil.

In a way, I am blasting GEJ, Buhari and all our leaders for keeping us resource dependent.

At the end, the guy is comparing 3 weeks of high oil prices with 2-3 years of high oil prices.

The fact is, Buhari had a bad seven years because of low oil prices. No one disputes that. The problem is how he responded to the low oil prices challenge, which is, not very well.

Like he could have taken measures like removing subsides on oil and power, which would have attracted investment and more money in both sectors. Instead, we did what we have always done for years....cut and miss austerity, with wild spending and dependency on loans.
