3,4,5 are impossible right now. What did they think before? They want a platter? Then sweat for it.

I hate that diaspora conclusion though.

Overall, what were they actually expecting?

If na Saraki now, higher chance of these bills seeing good conclusions would have occured.

Nice jersey though. Make them join money sponsor one female football team for abuja.

There is no where in the constitution saying women can't contest and win elections so what is their problem? if you feel you're fit to run, campaign and win like the men and not just sit somewhere and be expecting seats handed to you on a platter of gold because you're a female.

Too many old men in our National Assembly, they don't care about women rights there with their 1960s way of thinking.
Don't worry, the next generation of men in that assembly will put women where they rightly belong.

Asking for position in a party or a country is not a function of your genitals. If they want any position, let them go and contest and stop playing the victim card.

They don't need any sympathy; they should contest like their male counterparts.

shocked

It's so unfair for us women but again what are the contributions of women in the society that should merit them all these.

We only fight to reap where we didn't sow, with no contribution at all. our women should wake up and work as men.

Finding it difficult to believe a woman wrote this.

These women are silly and should be arrested. In fact, the sponsor of those bills should be investigated. How can women ask for the creation of one extra senatorial district per state just to cater for their needs? Have they forgotten how difficult it is for the nation to fund the current NASS as it is, talk of increasing it?

Sometimes I really don't understand what women want. How can you be clamoring for special seats in parties and compulsory allocation of seats in national assembly and yet be asking for equality. The mere fact that you want a special place is discrimination against women, there should be a level playing field and women should compete there as well.
There are as much women as men in this country and the women should channel their energy to mobilize themselves to vote for themselves why bothering the national assembly to be giving u preferential treatment in elections. I suspect this is being sponsored by some top women who wants to benefit through special seat allocation for women and don't want much competition.

What's wrong with women these days forming "woke" or struggling for equal right with men.

War broke out in Ukraine, the president announced that men; age 18 - 60 should not run, stay back and defend the country.

Why didn't woke women and the equal right feminist volunteer to take up arm?

Lol, most of those senators and reps men are Muslims who consider the place of women to be in the other room wearing hijab

Na the same group of men resisted when that Ekiti woman senator talked of equality of gender
Religion has nothing to do with this.

If you want any position go and contest .
If you want equality, you must provide equal value and be ready for equal responsibility.
Pray tell, what exactly does the average Nigerian woman contribute to the development of this country? Nothing

Ukraine gave women, equal rights but there's war today and majority of the women ran away. Equal rights demands equal responsibilities.

None of these things will pass so long as NASS is made up of useless old men.

Get rid of them first, then you will have some progress.

You call this irrelevant? No wonder Nigeria is this backward. Women make up about half of our population. I suspect you to be one of the northern fanatics who treat women like rags

You and the protesting women are living in the 60s.
Special seats in the national assembly are not reserved for women anywhere in the world.
Women who are interested in governance should compete with their male counterparts.
Which state will agree to limit their seat to only women?

In everything she said, only the first two is valid.

For the 3rd to 5th point, they want women to be served everything on a platter of Gold.

This reminds me of elections in my Alma Mater.

Males cannot contest for VP positions because it's reserved strictly for ladies, but females can contest for president sit.

This has made it possible to have Female President / Female VP combination, meanwhile, it's impossible to have male president/ male VP combination - because males can't contest for VP.

If ladies want a position, they should contest for it, they shouldn't be expecting everything to be given to them on a platter.

As for her last point, Nigerians in diaspora who wants to vote should fly back to Nigeria to do so. You can't be enjoying good life in UK, and be voting for evil people for us.

Is there a difference between gender chauvinism amd ethnic bigotry?

On to your point, if women make up over half of rhe country then why on earth do they need affirmative action??

Has the majority stopped carrying the vote?

True feminism demands true equality, not automatic seats for women. Let us women start supporting ourselves instead of begging men to give us seats! Let's start unseating them, let's go all out and participate more in elective politics!
