Falcon Heavy, Delta Four and the famous Space shuttle. The Russian Energia system that is also famous for ferrying most of ISS components to build the station and astronauts when the Space shuttle fleet was retired comes in fourth and in fifth is another famous but retired American workhorse, the indefatigable Saturn V that put man on the moon for the first time and in the process set an unbeatable record for space payload of 77 tons, unmatched till today..... well except that Musk intends to strap two more Falcon 9 boosters making the possibility of a Mars trip all the more a reality.

Abeg Russia is nowhere in sight.
If not for the US Judiciary, both Boeing and Blue Origin too will be shooting for the heavens.

Earth's atmosphere (including low orbit) is different from space or deep space. What people call space.

The way you navigate a craft in deep space is different from when you navigate a craft in low orbit because of gravitational pull.

The ISS is still in earth's atmosphere known as the Thermosphere..

Why am I arguing with you sef..you might be a mass comm student for all I know and can't grasp these things.

The only reason they partnered internationally was cost, not technology.
It is called 'International' because the benefits are supposed to be for all mankind.
The ISS is not the most complicated hardware in space right now.
There are far more technologically advanced satellites in space launched by NASA and NASA/ESA.... Hubble, Kepler, Mars Explorer series....
America does not need Russia for anything.
Now that Falcon has successfully docked with the ISS to deliver supplies and after a successful crew launch exercise, ROSCOM will not see Americans ever again.
The only reason they ever went there was the retirement of the Space Shuttle fleet and the political dillydallying that made no room for a replacement over the years.

Now they've seen the private sector is more efficient, its game on once again.

Listen very well, low earth orbit is part of space. The ISS is in space. Stop being publicly daft. Even the article you posted explained it. Now you are showing foolish images. Space doesn't mean there is no atmosphere. The atmosphere of the earth extends very far beyond the edge of space. Stop advertising your religion induced stupidity anytime there is a discussion.

That they all came together to do it better, cheaper and more efficiently does not belittle any.
I will also hint this to you for a fact.
The reason they all agreed to work together was to allay fears amongst themselves about their individual intentions in space.
And I think the move has done a good job so far in preventing the militarization of space and in keeping nuclear arms away from the heavens.

They can both go alone.
America is doing far, far more research and exploration with its allies outside the ISS whereas Russia has next to nothing outside that floating hotel.

Secondly, simple propulsion like you ignorantly claim is not what keeps the ISS in space. Because it's harder to keep a vehicle in low orbit closer to earth gravity than in deep space.

That was why I brought up low orbit and deep space. And showed you the ISS isn't really in space but still in earth's atmosphere.
