I have a friend who presently works as a graduate trainee in Stanbic IBTC Bank. He recently got an offer with MTN Nigeria as a graduate trainee too. Does MTN Nigeria have a better career prospect than Stanbic IBTC?

Both are South African companies anyway. South Africa has 51% controlling share of Stanbic IBTC bank

It depends on what the person want and career path chosen.

Stanbic is not like the typical Nigerian bank. They promote every year if you do well and pay annual end of year bonuses.

Career path should be the main thing here. what does he prefer?

It depends on his long term career goals.

MTN Nigeria except you are interested in Investment banking. Like it's your passion.

But you'll take a significant pay cut and work longer hours.

Stanbic is a great place too.

If they are no contact staff links , MTN. Culture is great, benefits are on point.

MTN, they don't sack like they do in the banking sector,except villa people are after you. None of us was sacked throughout our employment. Even those with low performance were only reprimanded after several efforts. Be prepared to travel, guy you go taya. We all left for greener pastures while some went abroad for further studies

MTN, reason is that there is better job security than in the banking sector.
