Okay... It's an unwritten law for us, that when an outsider is within the circumference of our discussion—say, a visiting person, prying ears of the world—and you intend to pass a classified information at such times, you speak our language. No, not our village dialect which, though difficult to understand, could still leave some keywords in the mainstream Igbo. We were able to come up with a cryptic language, known to and understood by only us in the whole universe. The tradition is its usage in critical times. 2 Likes |

Eating together, and togetherness in its entirety... Like eating from the same bow or tray when we are having our dinner but breakfast or lunch, you can choose to each alone. Another thing is celebrating Independence Day like Christmas, especially by my mum... As if we don benefit anything tangible from the govt or Nigeria itself ![]() ![]() |

qekng40: I was told about one tradition. In olden days in my village, sheep was not allowed to be brought in. Anybody that try it, the sheep would die immediately. They said OYA did not allow sheeps coming in to the village. But the tradition became broken when the northerners brought in sheeps, and nothing happened to the sheeps. Those northerners did not know about the tradition and did not even believe in such tradition. So my villagers were surprised that their sheeps survived. That was how people forgot about the tradition. 3 Likes |
