Ensure you have no ATM for your main account. Open another account strictly for withdrawals and transfer into it when you want to withdraw. This one should have an ATM. You can occasionally keep few sums there.

Also learn to carry a little cash around. Sometimes, na absence of cash dey make dem dig deeper.

Ever since a female friend encountered these dare-devil POS carrying robbers, I decided on having an account solely for savings that is not accessible with or bank app. Then I have an expense bank account where I keep money for normal day to day running. That way if I'm unfortunate to end up in their midst I will only lose a very small sum of naira and not my entire savings.

Nigeria is a jungle, one needs to be crafty to survive the numerous perils in this jungle.

She was on her way to work, she didn't drive that day due to Lagos traffic wahala so she joined private cars that go from mainland to island.

They showed her gun and asked for her pin; initially she gave them a wrong pin but when they brought out a syringe she doesn't even know its content, omo she release pin for fear of her live o. They wiped her account and applied robb to her eyes before dropping her at the nearest bus stop and zoomed off.

If she didn't tell me herself that same day I would've thought its a scene from a nollywood movie o.

Most times, the robbers don't own the POS machine. Even if you trace it to the POS that was used to withdraw the money, you will only end up with the innocent owner.

What they do is rob/kidnapp the POS owner before using the POS

Very traceable but our bank are quacks who would never bother there selves with cases like this. They are always interested in financial transactions they will benefit..

Naija is a very funny country my dear. Same thing happened to my younger sister in her school hostel in benin... Robbers came with POS and empty all of the hostel occupants account. One of them took the case to her bank and they traces it to a business owner in Lagos. My bother/sister nazo bank use them run up and down and they fill form pass 100 times anytime them come to bank. Police report, court affidavit and many request. All becos of frustration from bank they back out one after the other. Na so the matter die till today.

Drisham sorry, that's why I always advise people to only have an atm for their expense account, major funds should be kept in an account with no atm, ussd code pin or application

Things are getting really hard for Nigerians and many are jobless, hungry and desperate

it's going to only get worse, also whether you are driving or using public transportation always be very conscious of your environment

Nigeria is not a society where things work the way they should.

1. If you want to trace such transactions you will need police report. Police report is not free in Nigeria, the amount involved will determine how much the police will charge you for the police report issuance. Let me burst ur head, even banks when their staff perpetuate fraud and they need police report to lodge claim with their insurers, police still charge them before giving them police report of the incident. (You can confirm this from anybody working in recovery unit of a bank in Nigeria )

2. Nigeria is a society where people disappear into thin air . Even if you have a BVN linked to an account, the contact details provided on your BVN may not be true and nobody will verify it sef. So it's easy for the thieves to leave paper trail and still be moving about freely.

3. In Nigeria robbers sometimes know when u report them and can come back for u before they get arrested and that time e don be for u be that. An example is the case of the owner of the popular Whitehouse restaurant in Sabo, Yaba. The man was robbed in the night with cash and ATM taken away from his residence ....He reported the incident at Pedro police station in the morning with policemen promising to investigate. In the evening those same robbers went back to his place and murdered him in cold bold. His families cried for justice and accused the policemen for culpability in his death , but nothing has been done till date.
