More details about the death of the Deputy Inspector General of Police in Charge Force Criminal Investigations Department, and head of the probe panel of suspended DCP Abba Kyari, DIG Joseph Obiajulu Egbunike have emerged with Police saying the DIG gave up the ghost at the national hospital after an operation which may have been a medical error.

Police sources said DIG Egbunike was driven to National Hospital following severe neck pains which troubled him at the weekend for a medical check-up.

On getting to the hospital and seeing the pain the DIG was going through, the doctors immediately recommended an operation leading to the DIG being taken into the theatre.

Sources present at the hospital however said that the National hospital doctors knowing fully well that the senior officer had a history of high blood pressure, would have allowed him to stabilize and the BP reduced to a manageable state before proceeding with the operation.

“They ignored this and this is a medical error. There is no doubt this may gave led to his death”.

DIG Egbunike recently headed the Special Investigation Panel that investigated the alleged involvement of Suspended DCP Abba Kyari, former Commander of the Police Intelligence Yeam IRT over the $1.1million Hushpuppi internet fraud reported slumped in the office and died before medical response could be performed late on Tuesday.

Egbunike who had previously served as the DIG in charge of Finance and Administration before he was appointed DIG Investigation hails from Onitsha in Anambra state and in the DIG overseeing the South-East geo-political zone.

A senior Police officer who was evidently in pain over the shocking demise confirmed the death of Egbunike.

Different versions of the same person's death.
From collapse in the office to object struck in throat to surgery following a neck pain that shouldn't have been done.
In Nigeria every death must have been caused by some other person, enemies or village people or negligent medical practice if the person died in a hospital or even days after leaving hospital.
We maybe reaching a stage where we have to invite foreign pathologists to carry out autopsies on all deaths in dispute because they have started disagreeing with autopsies performed in Nigeria, even if you like let it be done by all the pathologists in Nigeria.

Chai. The Hospital should be held responsible.
What a good man. I met him in person once at Force HQ Abuja when he was still Commissioner for Budget in 2010.

May his soul rest in peace.

Journalism in Nigeria got to be one of the most if not the most unprofessional practice. One event, but you will hear over 200 versions of the story and you will begin to wonder if there are no checks in place for right reportage. Take this story for instance, who visits a hospital for a neck pain and the doctor choose to do surgery, what exactly is the surgery for? To surgically remove the pains from the neck?

They are right.
Some years back my mum who went for an eye operation in Lagos, and the doctors noticed her BP was high, they rescheduled the operation to enable her stabilised before it was done.

And even at that, this man should have resigned honourably, everything isn't about money at all.

Some conspiracy theorist will never agree to be enlightened.

They will rather wallow in ignorance while forming woke and mouthing all manner of rubbish about deepstate or New World Order or assassination, over the death of an obese DIG with frail health who could not overcome the trauma of the surgery he had.

Did you read the fishbone story or you just read the headlines?

If you read it and you comprehended the details, you would understand the connection with this particular report about his BP which still points to a frail health that could not recover from the surgery he had due to the stuck fish bone.

Stop letting ignorance deceive you.
