I thought after that 4-0 (1-6) bottling season that they would have changed only for them to bottle a 0-2 lead at Old Trafford in the era of away goal rule. Now they just broke a new bottling record after going 0-2 up in aggregate with less than 30mins left. It doesn't get more woeful than that.

Please don't mention Ancelotti! Asensio had no reason to play in the first place. He can't track back like Rodrygo. Kroos wasn't 100% fit but Ancelotti used him in a crucial match as this. Casemiro wasn't on the field, we needed a strong midfield but an injured Kroos was squeezed in.

If anything, Ancelotti did what most Madrid fans suggested he did at the start of the game. We were only lucky not to have conceded 2 before they came on.

Aside from Casemiro been injured, I don't support him starting ahead of Valverde. Madrid might lost the match if he started, which was the case in first leg. Madrid were in shambles at the middle park. To me Casemiro is not at his best,lose ball now days and usually sluggish in making decisions. If you want to kill PSG, here is the simple formulae. Be pacy, spacy so that you run them out of midfield.

What took PSG out wasn't those goals. It was inexperience and their inability to stay composed. Everyone saw through the charade of our lineup and it would have been worse if we were playing a Bayern side. Rodrygo over Asensio anytime, any day. We would have been punished with our lineup easily.

Starting Kroos was hurting the team because the midfield wasn't ours initially. There is the strength of Camavinga, though young and even Hazard. Valverde has been unused for eons only to be used today. Ancelotti is a mid-level coach, unfit to coach a club like Real Madrid where there is the pressure to win every game, maintain balance in the team and win trophies.

The substitutions by Anceloti made a very great impact. Vazquez coming in for Carvajal, Rodrygo coming in for Assensio, Camavinga coming In for kroos. Now, Valverde was instructed to occupy deep lying midfield which kroos struggled to live up owning to fitness. This allowed modric to get better control of the ball. I support Valverde starting anyday, anytime. He gets speed, strength and always pacy.
